The Quarantine

Bubble Pod Living Quarters- (Doomsday Diary)

Phase II: An AI to do the work of creating perfect placement for all of the applicants. To be honest the technology sounded extremely far fetched to me, but it all became my new reality rather quickly. There was something interesting, or maybe a bit cliche when you come to think about it, about everyone who had applied for phase II: they had an extremely large amount of personal data compared to other phase applicants. As a self diagnosed typical phase two individual, I have no shame admitting that I used all my medias the same exact way as before having my privacy stripped. In case you’re brand spanking new, there was a day when the people of our nation gave up our privacy and agreed to be monitored and watched constantly. This lead several individuals to be outraged, as well as become very conscious of how they used there technology. But not I, I love the stimulation and entertainment of technology so much that I continued to use all my tech. in the exact same way as before. In other wrods I loved my phone, lap top, and tv so much that I could care less if anyone was monitoring or watching my activity. Because this, it seems the process for me was just about instant, which lets be honest, is exactly the way I like it. Now don’t forget, all these phases, and perfect placement, and pods, and bubbles, came as a the response to a very deadly, near apocalyptic virus.

Now that same virus had toppled economies, re-arranged society and put a large amount of uncertainty into my mind. Then just when things seem to be completely going to mash, pardon my French, I heard about phase II, the quarantin. I was absolutely pumped, I mean once I found out this was real and not a nasty rumor to inspire hope among the desperate I was …

I didn’t care much for the literature describing the bubble, pod, and block system they had me at housing, living spaces available, furnished and fancy. The idea to me seemed clear and simple; The land was to be divided and the people were to be isolated, and an AI would categorize people and decide how and where to place the applicants. Again there was verbiage and explanation of large areas to be called Bubbles, and there would be blocks and there would be pods and blah blah blah. Sign me up, was all I was thinking and that’s exactly what I did I signed up.

It seemed even the officials who had been assigned to contact me and escort me to my “perfect placement“ were suprised by the speed in which things had taken place. I remember the sucker in his out fir literally reading off of a brochure..

talking about “Once quarantined…or once settled, from … you can only travel within your pod and potentially a few pods close to yours. A block is classified as 54 households and 18 pods…” I‘ll save you the snooze fest but he began to go on and on about you will have most in common with those in your pod and the individuals in the same block and bubble would be slightly different but with-in similar categorization. He mentioned something about during quarantine you’ll be studied and watched to mitigate any errors in the system and during the settled stage you will be free to move about as long as you wont pose a threat to any one you could encounter and vice versa. I was just imaging in my head a huge party similar to spring break!

It’s interesting how even if you were heading to some place you knew you loved, the idea of being there permanently could give you featr and make you second guess. Moment before I pulled into the bubble I was certainly regretting my choice to ignore the man reading of the brochure like a flunkie acting student. Did he say anything about changing you’re mind. Well as it turns out it was too late and next thing I knew I was in my living space. The original projects for the ”settled“ stage to kick in had been three months, but I had been quarantined much longer than that. I was beginning to think that …
