Climate Changes

Climate

Researchers have come to a conclusion that climate changes are caused by human activities. The most dangerous consequences of climate changes are global warming, greenhouse effect, temperature increase and the destruction of the ozone layer. Human activities released a great amount of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, causing greenhouse effect. As a consequence of fossil fuels burning, industrial practices, deforestation and other agricultural processes, the great number of greenhouse gases are emitted into the air. These gases act like a blanket that covers the whole surface of the earth and trap energy in the atmosphere warming the planet. The process is called greenhouse effect, and it has a negative influence on peoples welfare and health while destroying the ecosystem.

Talking about temperature increase, it leads to the melting of ice cover. Glaciers are melting, and it causes changes in sea level. The rise of sea level endangers thousands of coastal cities like Venice and there is a possibility that islands will be soon covered with the ocean. The rapid growth of sea level causes damage not only to people but also to nature. It may cause such natural cataclysms as erosions, agricultural soils contamination, flooding of wetlands and loss of habitats for birds, fish and plants.

Another climate problem is drought. Drought is a natural process caused by lack of rains in the particular region. It is a durable period of a hot and dry weather that causes economic and environmental problems. As a result, the agricultural sphere suffers owing to the crops damage and water supply shortages. The main problem is that it is difficult to predict drought as well as hard to say when it begins and when it ends.

Climate changes influence ecosystem and the biodiversity. Hard life conditions and the destruction of ecosystem lead to the extinction of species. Only the strongest and the most adapted for new conditions survive. As a result, there is a great number of endangered and extinct species.

The life of people is connected with climate since climate changes affect water supply, natural environment, agriculture and peoples health and safety. There are such threats of climate changes that affect human health:

Contagious diseases. Scientists believe that global warming brings changes in disease vectors; therefore, this mechanism spread diseases that are dangerous for human life.

Nevertheless, people are able to take some steps to slacken global warming. Among them are:

People can buy products that are reusable which will reduce the level of contamination. Moreover, one can try to buy products with minimal packaging. Furthermore, if there is a chance, recycle plastic, paper, glass and aluminum cans.

Trees and plants absorb carbon dioxide and give oxygen. Thus, by planting trees, one reduces the level of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere and increases the level of oxygen.

It is vital not to forget to turn off the light when leaving the room and use only as much electricity as one needs. What is more, people should turn off the television, a stereo or a video player when they do not use them.

The less people drive a car, the fewer emissions get into the atmosphere. As an alternative, one can ride a bicycle or walk, in the same time doing exercises and not polluting the environment.
