All White Capsule
What would you do to prevent an opioid crisis?

Once it landed, it didn’t damage any buildings. It just made a deep indentation on the grass of Rodney Square in Wilmington, Delaware. It was a pill, an opioid to be exact. Shocked looks and astonished faces all made up the expressions on the faces of the populace. A traffic jam prohibited any movement of vehicles around the Square. Some people darted away from the massive pharmaceutical product. Others seemed intrigued and ambled closer. Their movements appeared to be reluctant yet they kept moving.
The pill stood about eight hundred feet and looked like an all white capsule. Some rushed towards it like a fire was lit under their behinds. Others just stood in shock. Once some of the first people started to touch the capsule, others smelled, some tasted. The ones that tasted felt an euphoria that they had never experienced in their entire lives. So they would lick and dance and swoon from the pharmacological rapture. They needed more. And after seeing the people in such ecstatic states, more and more started to run towards the pill. But Lana Boyington looked at everyone running. She possessed blonde hair and jet black skin. She didn’t possess a bullhorn or a loudspeaker but she wanted to scream. She wanted to warn the people that their actions would have dire consequences. As a researcher into the effects of opioid addiction, she knew just what the problems would be associated with abusing the drug. The few people who walked slowly remained former addicts and others knew the proper dosage of the drug remained with her. She locked arms with them and formed a human shield against the runners. In a few moments, the people who ran to lick some of the capsule started to show signs of addiction. Some had passed out already. Emergency vehicles had a tough time inching past the cars and trucks that had stopped for the occupants to gaze at the gigantic drug.
Lana ventured to her own vehicle to grab as many counteractive drugs to the people who could handle the effects of the pills without overdosing themselves. Others swarmed her car and she passed out as many samples as she could to fight the adverse reactions to the pill.
“We’ve got to be on point. We’ve got to fight the addiction as quickly and as expertly as we can... even though you may not be an expert. That’s okay. I’ll teach you how to have the people ingest the counteractive drugs. Let’s move to save all of these lives!”
More and more bodies lay strewn around the square. The presence of Lana and her ragtag crew of non-commissioned medical staff addressed the people who laid about and didn’t even have consciousness. Yet, once the people inhaled the drug to fight the first drug, they sprang back to life with a verve and almost surprise reaction. It was like ice water being poured on them in a sauna. Lana scurried about the Square to show people that were awakening to get as far away from the pill as possible. Some people looked at the ones who awakened from the inhaled drug. They figured that they could take just a little bit of the pill and that would eliminate the doldrums of being lonely, abused, confused, or unwell. Lana raced to save as many of these people as possible. One was Thatcher Covey. He was light skinned with greying hair. He had tears in his eyes.
“I just don’t want to hurt anymore,” Covey told Lana.
“This, whatever it is, will never be the answer. You can take only the recommended dosage instead of licking that goddamn thing. Do you understand?”
Covey bowed his head. Lana held his hand and walked him back to his vehicle.
“Here is my digital card. We can get you on a regimen of drugs that are non-addictive. It’s going to be alright.”
