A Break Down of My Personality That No One Asked For

I'll admit it, I kind of have an obsession with personality tests. I happen to know that I am a Type 3, INTP Slytherin. And what have I done with this information? Besides using it to come up with cool aesthetics, not a damn thing. But do I still click on every single Buzzfeed personality quiz that I see? Hell yeah.

For me, Zodiac signs are kind of like that. Of course I've looked into it and read up about why the stars and planets say I am the way I am, but it's more for fun than anything else. Ultimately, I believe that nothing can determine what kind of person I am besides me and the choices I make. But you can bet I'm still going to give an in-depth break down about what my birth chart says about me and how accurate it is.

In a person's birth chart, there are a ton of different components. We typically only think of our sun signs when someone asks "what's your sign?" This is based on what part of the year you were born in. But there's also a moon sign, ascendant/rising sign, and signs for all of the planets including Pluto. I'm gonna walk you through my sun, moon, and rising sign because those are the Big 3 that determine a person's personality (think of them like Zeus, Hades, and Poseidon). And for a little bonus, I'm gonna talk about my Venus sign because that's the one that supposedly determines a person's love life. And hopefully by the end of it all, I won't need therapy.

Sun Sign: Aries ♈︎

Aries is the first sign of the zodiac, and Aries natives are the first to start--and the first to finish--whatever they set out to do. Aries is an active, energetic sign. People with Sun in Aries are direct, straightforward, and uncomplicated. They expect the same from others, and are baffled when they don't always get it.

Element: Fire

When I was a child, I was extremely hyper. I was always running around the house until my mom banished me to the backyard. Now that I'm an adult, I've mellowed out a lot but my brain is still full of that childhood activity and energy. I'm constantly thinking about 1,000 things at once and when I get a bunch of ideas in my head, I have to put them in motion somehow. That's why I end up staying up till early hours of the morning just writing everything that comes to my mind sometimes.

When I hear the word "uncomplicated," I think laid back and drama-free. That's me. I'm a pretty go-with-the-flow kind of person and I hate drama (at least drama that includes me). I do also consider myself to be an independent person because I hate having to rely on other people and as somehow who once got in a car and traveled eight hours just because I missed my mom's cooking, I think it's fair to say I can be impulsive.

The one area where I differ from my sun sign is being direct and straightforward. As much as those are traits I would love to acquire, as someone who is often very self conscious about how people will perceive the things I say, I often think very carefully about my words. And sometimes that results in me restraining or censoring myself or even beating around the bush.

Moon Sign: Libra ♎

Moon in Libra people have a strong need for partnership. Without someone to share their lives with, they feel utterly incomplete. This is why many people with this position get involved in marriages or living-together arrangements quite young.

This birth chart really just called me a simp. And you know what?... Maybe. Admittedly, I am a hopeless romantic and in the past, I enjoyed being in relationships for the sake of it.

As I've gotten older, however, I don't feel the same way. I actually enjoy being single now because I value my space and independence. Life is a lot easier to live when I don't have another person to worry about. But although I am content with my singlehood, I've known since I was a child that I want to be married someday and have someone to share my life with. But at 22 years old, I have never had a live-in partner so I'm not exactly sure how young they're talking about when they say Libra moons tend to get involved in living-together arrangements quite young.

As for the other traits, I'm an introvert so I do tend to keep to myself a bit, which hurts the sociable quality. When I'm in familiar spaces with people I like, however, I tend to come out of my shell, making jokes and trying to make people feel comfortable. And I don't know if I'd call myself argumentative, but I certainly do enjoy a good debate (okay, some might call it argumentative).

Ascendant/Rising: Cancer ♋

She does not come across as a typical Aries. Instead, she comes across as softer, more docile. Can be a fantastic leader when called upon. Very capable with a competitive streak, but good humor.

Other Traits: Kind

Element: Water

You heard it here first. The stars think that I'm funny. They also think I'm a good leader. I won't lie, I find myself to be hysterical (but of course, that's subjective). I laugh at everything and enjoy making others laugh. As someone who has also had many leadership positions, whether it was in my church youth group or training people at work, I can also say that being a good leader is pretty accurate as well.

I'm also not really an aggressive or extremely blunt person like Aries are typically thought to be. I prefer being diplomatic about how I approach situations and talk to people. Really, I'm just a nice person. But anyone who has ever seen me play Taboo knows how competitive I can get. So this one might just be a perfect score.

Venus: Pisces ♓

Venus in Pisces people project themselves as dreamy, soft-hearted partners. Everything about the way they flirt promises a lovely time. Theirs is an elusive charm -- they are sweetly playful, a little moody, and perhaps a little irregular.

Element: Water

As someone who's always been a tomboy, this description fits me surprisingly well. Despite having a lot of guy friends and growing up being interested in more "masculine" activities, when it comes to romantic relationships, my feminine side tends to thrive.

I am a hopeless romantic and i'm not ashamed of it and though I may not always show it, I'm very sensitive. And yes, I can be indecisive sometimes, going back and forth between what I want but honestly, I feel like that's a coping mechanism I've developed over time to keep myself from getting too invested in things that could potentially end.

So... what's the takeaway from this?

Well according to the cosmos, I'm an energetic, romantic, funny simp. I've definitely been called worse.

I also have all of the elements in my chart except for earth. The fact that I don't have any earth signs in my chart doesn't really bother me, but it certainly kills my "call me the Avatar" joke. Maybe I need Toph to come help me out (yeah, that one wasn't as good).

Overall, my birth chart was more accurate than I expected it to be, so maybe they're on to something. But for now, I'll just stick to deciding who I am for myself.
