Grey
Lake stands up quickly, prompting me to look back at her, "where are you going?" I ask, not far off begging her to stay here with me until the sun rises.
The selfish part of me wants her to say, her company is the best part of my night and I'm not ready for it to end.
"I have to go find my friends so we can leave, sorry," she mumbles almost frantically as she marches off back towards the house. Without a second to object or even comprehend what is going on, she's opening the door and disappearing into the be it smaller crowd still bustling inside.
That was weird;
I don't understand what happened to make her run away like that.
Did I say or do something wrong? thinking back to myself, I really don't think it was anything I said or did.
Taking another drag of my cigarette just staring at the door she disappeared through, waiting for her to jump back out from behind the door and tell me she was joking, but after staring mindlessly at the door for a few minutes, I know that isn't going to happen.
I breathe out closing my eyes, dragging my free hand through my hair brushing it back off of my face, what the fuck is wrong with me.
I shouldn't crave the attention of a girl I just briefly met, no matter how adorable she is.
I don't even know where my girlfriend is right now or more importantly my sister, they should be my only concerns.
I feel the bench vibrate beneath me, forgetting I placed my phone down on the seat earlier I look down at it, and it suddenly hits me.
I look at the time stamp on the last message I had received I didn't even notice who it was from before I realize why Lake ran off so fast.
It all makes sense now, the smile on her face falling, her abrupt departure, Lake must've seen my phone more specifically, the background of Brodie and I.
Ah, fuck.
She must think I'm a piece of shit now for flirting with her when I have a girlfriend because let's be real, I was flirting with her without realizing, or caring.
I pick up my phone reading the message I now notice is from Brodie.
"It's about fucking time," I grunt under my breath, unlocking my phone to read her long overdue message.
"Come to bed; I have your birthday present up here. - Brodie"
Seriously? She ghosts me for hours and that's all she has to say?
Also, that means she was here the entire time I was searching high and low for her, and of all places, she's in my bedroom?
When I went up there earlier to check she was nowhere to be found, assuming that would be the first place she would retreat. I need to get to her and get answers before my mind comes to all the bad conclusions on its own, where was she before now?
I guess it's time for me to find out and get my present, happy birthday to me.
Before heading inside I remember to send a text to Aspen, I need to make sure she is okay before I disappear into Brodie for the remained of the night, assuming that's why she wants me to come to bed.
"Are you at my house? - Grey."
I remain still on the bench, clutching my phone in both hands staring down at it, praying she replies fast. If I was to get up and attempt finding her in the crowd of people still inside, that could be a time-consuming mission that I don't have the time or energy for.
My body still feeling the consequences from the amount of alcohol I consumed in a small amount of time, I think it'll be a mission just to make it to my bedroom at this point.
My phone vibrates in my palm, relief washing over my body, no need to send a search party out for my sister's safe return.
"Hey, yeah I am, but I think we are leaving now. I haven't been drinking, and I've got two friends with me so I'll be okay. Happy Birthday big brother, I love you! - Aspen."
"Good, text me when you get home, so I know you're safe. I love you too. Come over sometime soon during the day so we can see each other. I miss your annoying face. - Grey."
"Count on it; I'll be back soon. - Aspen."
A few minutes later I reach the top of the stairs, slowly pushing through people still lingering around up here, where they know is strictly off bounds, but form the sounds coming from Reid, and Reggie's rooms I don't want to know what they've got going on up here.
Living with your bandmates is as good as it is terrible, being the only one in a relationship can make things hard and awkward between Brodie and I.
The constant revolving wheel of girls Reid has over, and occasionally Reggie, I can understand why she is uncomfortable with it all.
Nico is the only one in the band who does things under the radar, I don't doubt he gets girls, but if he does we don't know about it, and I respect him for that.
Keeping things quiet and to yourself is hard when you're best friends are man whores.
I love the guys, but they need to learn when to keep their dicks in their pants.
It was then I see Nico exit the upstairs bathroom, still doing up his pants, I grin at him, knowing I've just caught him in the act, this is a first for me.
He laughs back not saying a word before he wanders off back downstairs, tapping me on my shoulder as he passes.
I know Brodie is waiting for me, but I chose to wait and see how long it takes whoever the girl was to emerge from the bathroom after him.
Everyone knows the trick, one person leaves then the other waits a few minutes before emerging like nothing was going on in there.
This trick never works, yet people still continue doing it.
Leaning back against the wall, I wait for the show to commence. Thankfully, I didn't have to wait long before I see her. A tall, leggy blonde steps out from behind the door and I'm legitimately lost for words.
I won't deny she's hot, but not my type. Doesn't mean I can't appreciate.
I follow the lines of her long, lean legs upward until my eyes land on ample breasts bouncing as she struts along, almost falling out of her business looking attire, continuing my inspection up, I reach her face, pretty.
She notices my perusal, smiling at me all coy and embarrassed, she didn't seem like the type to be a stage five clinger which I'm guessing is what attracted Nico to her.
She carried herself with grace, and the closer she gets I notice she looks a bit older than us, maybe in her late 20s or early 30s, but still beautiful.
Taking more notice of her outfit, its almost as if she came here straight from a 9-5 office job, strange.
I'll have to remember to ask Nico about her later, I'm officially intrigued.
Brushing past me she glides downstairs, all eyes falling on her as she makes her way through the bodies of party-goers, straight towards the front door, I guess she wasn't planning to hang around for long.
Laughing to myself, I turn back towards my bedroom, where I know Brodie is, most likely naked and ready for me.
I knock lightly on my bedroom door, letting her know it's me before entering.
The creak from the doors hinges as I slowly push it open remind me I really need to fix that soon, it's hard to sneak in and out at night when I'm having midnight snack cravings.
As I guessed, the first thing I see when I enter is Brodie, half-naked laying on her stomach on my bed, her eager smile dragging me into the room further, my cock now wide awake and ready for her.
Alcohol be damned! nothing is stopping me now.
I know we really should talk about what happened earlier outside with those girls and Reid, but the look on her face tells me she has other plans for us tonight.
"Brodie-" I start, trying hard to focus knowing we need to talk, or this will just get brushed under the rug, just like everything else does lately.
"Not now," lowering her voice to a whisper, her determination overpowering my need to talk to her about what's going on.
"Come here," Brodie says, her tone innocent yet seductive. I pause, studying her expression, I guess we aren't fighting anymore.
Am I even alive right now or is this some alcohol-induced sex dream? I have no idea what's going on here.
I cautiously walk over to the bed as if she was going to launch herself onto me and attack me with her fists, but that doesn't happen so I sit down beside her, a bit uncomfortable with how quickly the situation between us has changed.
One minute we are in a silent, bitter fight, and she storms off, the next she's giving me the fuck me eyes, the eyes I know all too well.
I don't even know what to think.
She tilts her head to the side, scanning me up and down, I match her gaze and smirk at her, the grin she gives back settles my nerves.
She isn't hiding the fact that she wants this, wants me and she doesn't seem to have been drinking, so there's nothing to be worried about.
If she's okay with this, so am I.
