BDSM might look intense from the outside—leather, whips, strict rules—but talk to the right people and you’ll quickly see it’s also about trust, connection, and a good dose of fun. I recently had the chance to connect with two professional dominatrixes: Mistress Scarlett and Mistress Vera from 2Dominatrix, based in Brisbane (who also tour Sydney and Melbourne), to talk about their world.

These mistresses know how to read a room—and a submissive—like nobody else. One moment they can be the strictest sadist you’ve ever met, the next they’re guiding someone gently through their very first kink experience. In our chat, they shared what a first session is really like, the misconceptions people have about dommes, and why exploring your fantasies with a pro is often the safest (and most exciting) way to do it.

And if you’re wondering where you could meet someone like them—yes, it’s possible. Platforms like Locanto make it easy to connect with open-minded people, whether you’re after a professional session or just curious to dip your toes into the kink world.

1. How would you describe your dominant persona in just three words?

Sadistic, sensual, sensitive.

2. What's a first session typically like with a brand-new client?

They generally start off very, very nervous. Often shaking and sweating. By the end of the session they are on an absolute high. Stimulated, super excited, proud of themselves and usually trying to organise another session as soon as possible.

3. Do you accept anyone who contacts you, or do you have selection criteria? What's an instant red flag for you?

We accept anyone who treats us with respect and whom we feel we can cater to their needs. We are very inclusive and not troubled at all by appearance, sexual orientation, disabilities or unusual kinks.

4. Has a sub ever done or said something that completely caught you off guard—whether in a surprising, funny, or even unsettling way?

Not really. I've just been so heartened by how lovely our subs are in general and how grateful and appreciate they are of our appearance, skills and empathy.

5. What's one boundary you thought you'd never cross—but later realized you were totally fine with (or even enjoyed)?

Kissing! It initially seemed too intimate for work but in actual fact in many role plays it fits the scene so perfectly and feels absolutely right and very sexy!

6. What do people get completely wrong about dominatrixes or the BDSM world in general?

They think we always look glamorous and sexy and dressed up. So we can hide in plain sight. That woman at the supermarket you just saw in trackpants may have been in a catsuit with a whip an hour ago looking as sexy and dominant as you please. You never know!

7. If someone is curious but nervous about exploring submission or domination, what would you say to ease them into it? Would you recommend them to read some book or watch movie?

I would recommend they have a session! Kink is very broad and the best place to explore is with professionals. A first session can be as gentle and explorative as a client wishes. We work as sensual dommes just as often as sadistic ones and always have safe words. We also switch and play submissive roles at times so others can explore their dominant sides. We have never, ever had someone experience a first session and regret their choice.

We would like to thank Mistress Vera & Mistress Scarlett for their time and honest answers! If you'd like to know more about them, you can simply send them a message here.
