A Girl Diary Reveals Her Secret Crush

Lena had always been the girl who kept things to herself. Her world was a quiet place filled with schoolwork, her books, and her sketchpad. She was content with her routines—until the day she found herself unable to keep a secret that had been growing inside her for months.
It all started with a simple diary. It was a small, leather-bound journal she received from her grandmother on her tenth birthday. Over the years, it became her sanctuary—a place where she could be completely honest, where her thoughts and feelings could breathe without judgment. She never expected to share her deepest secret in those pages, but somehow, that’s what happened.
It was a chilly autumn afternoon when Lena decided to write about her favorite subject—her secret crush. She had been crushing on Jamie for months. He was in her class, with messy dark hair that fell into his eyes, a mischievous smile, and an easy confidence that made her heart flutter every time he looked her way. But she had kept her feelings locked away, afraid of what might happen if she ever told anyone.
That day, she pulled out her diary during lunch, her fingers trembling slightly as she opened to a fresh page. Her heart pounded as she began to write:
*“Dear Diary,*
*There’s someone I like. Actually, I think I’ve liked him for a long time, but I’ve never told anyone. His name is Jamie. He’s funny, kind, and sometimes he gives me this look—like he sees right through me, and I don’t know what to do about it. I catch myself daydreaming about him during class, and when he laughs, it feels like the whole world stops for a second.”*
Lena paused, rereading her words. Her cheeks flushed as she kept writing:
*“I wonder if he notices me the way I notice him. Sometimes, I catch him glancing my way, but I don’t know if it’s because he likes me or just because he’s curious. I wish I had the courage to tell him how I feel, but I’m afraid of ruining everything. So I guess I’ll just keep dreaming and writing about him here.”*
She closed her diary gently, her heart pounding with a mixture of excitement and fear. That night, she kept thinking about her words, wondering if anyone would ever read them, if her feelings were too obvious, or if she was just imagining things.
Days turned into weeks, and Lena’s feelings only grew stronger. She found herself doodling Jamie’s face in the margins of her notebooks, stealing glances whenever she could, and listening for his voice during class. Yet, she kept her secret locked inside her diary, afraid that revealing her feelings might change everything—maybe even make things worse.
One chilly Friday afternoon, Lena was walking home from school when she heard her name called out. She turned and saw Jamie approaching with his usual grin.
“Hey, Lena,” he said casually, stuffing his hands into his jacket pockets. “You looked pretty busy during math today.”
She blinked, surprised that he had noticed. She stammered, “Oh, uh, yeah. I guess I was just trying to keep up.”
He chuckled. “You’re always so focused. That’s one of the things I like about you.”
Her heart skipped a beat. Was he just being friendly, or did he mean something more? She forced a shy smile, feeling her cheeks heat up.
The next day, Lena stayed late at school, hiding in the library to avoid running into him. Her mind raced with a thousand thoughts—what if he knew? What if he had read her diary? She had left her notebook open on her desk once, but she was sure she had closed it before anyone could see.
Later that evening, while she was journaling in her room, her phone buzzed with a message. It was from her best friend, Emma.
*“Hey, Lena! Did you see Jamie today? He was looking at you during class. Do you think he likes you?”*
Lena’s stomach knotted. She hesitated before replying, “I don’t know. Maybe. I think he’s just being nice.”
Emma responded quickly, “You should tell him! You never know—maybe he feels the same way!”
Lena smiled softly, but her courage faltered. She wanted to tell him, but she was scared of what might happen if she did.
That night, she opened her diary again, her fingers trembling as she wrote her latest confession:
*“Dear Diary,*
*I think I like Jamie more than I ever thought I could. Every time I see him, my stomach flips, and I can’t help but smile. But I’m still too scared to tell him. What if he doesn’t feel the same? What if I lose my friendship with him? Sometimes I wish I could just hide these feelings forever, but I know I can’t keep pretending they aren’t real.”*
One week later, Lena found herself face-to-face with Jamie during lunch. He sat beside her unexpectedly, his eyes shining with curiosity.
“Lena,” he began softly, “I’ve been wanting to talk to you for a while. I hope I’m not bothering you, but I think you’re really cool. And… I’ve noticed you’ve been kind of distant lately. Are you okay?”
Lena’s heart pounded. Her mind raced with the possibilities—was this her moment? Could she tell him everything? Her hands trembled as she reached for her diary in her backpack, her secret safe within its pages.
But instead of speaking, she hesitated. Her voice caught in her throat. She looked down at her lunch, feeling vulnerable and exposed.
Jamie smiled gently, sensing her hesitation. “Hey, I get it. Sometimes, I feel the same way. Just wanted you to know I like talking to you. Maybe we can hang out sometime?”
Lena nodded shyly, a faint smile creeping across her face. That day, she realized that maybe, just maybe, she didn’t need to hide her feelings anymore.
Later that night, Lena sat in her room, her diary open on her lap. She took a deep breath and decided to write her final secret confession in her journal—one she had kept hidden for so long.
*“Dear Diary,*
*I think I’ve finally found the courage to be honest. I like Jamie. More than I’ve ever liked anyone. And today, I realized that it’s okay to be vulnerable. Maybe he likes me too, or maybe he doesn’t. But I don’t want to hide anymore. I want to be brave and see where this feelings lead us. Whatever happens, I’m glad I finally told my story.”*
She closed her diary with a smile, feeling lighter than she had in months. For the first time, she understood that secrets only stay hidden if we let them. Sometimes, all it takes is a little courage to turn the pages and share our stories—because the truth, no matter how small or big, has a way of finding its light.
