Chapter 3 New Rivals

Meanwhile, Zhane, Tommy, and Michael and Jose finished unpacking their stuff.

Alright the Blue Wolves are officially settled, said Michael.

Finally, because I’m starving, said Zhane.

Hey, the cafe is serving lasagna. Let's head over there, said Jose.

How do you know? We just got here. Tommy asked.

I downloaded the camp agenda on my phone.

Of course you did.

Well, what are we waiting for? Let’s go, said Zhane.

The boys headed to the cafe and saw campers crowding a group of older kids in black t-shirts.

What’s going on, asked Zhane.

The Black Lions are here! They’ve been the Braveheart Olympic Champions for two years straight, said a camper.

Oh yeah, my brother mentioned them to me before I went to camp. He said the Black Lions are super good at the games and the guy in the middle is leader, Randy Collins, said Tommy.

Well they better enjoy being champs for now, because the Blue Wolves are taking that title, said Zhane.

I wouldn’t be so sure about that.

The boys turned around to see four girls in red shirts glaring at them.

Who are you?

The name is Katie, and this is Gabriel, Diamond and Zoey. We’re the Red Jaguars.

Well, I’m Zhane, meet Jose, Michael, and Tommy. We are the Blue Wolves.

Charmed, but don’t get your hopes up too much, because if anyone is gonna take the camp olympics title from the Black Lions it’s gonna be us.

Cute and confident, I like that in a girl, said Zhane.

Katie tried not to blush.

Don’t try to flatter me, you and your misfit friends are just another team to take down.

Who are you calling a misfit, asked Michael.

You heard her, said Diamond.

Anyway, we didn’t come here to trash talk, we came here to eat, said Zhane.

Go ahead, you’re gonna need all the energy you can get, said Zoey.

Whatever, the line is getting long and I’m hungry, said Jose.

Fine we’ll let you go. See you at the olympics.

Katie winked at Zhane as the Red Jaguars walked off

Yo I think she has a thing for me, said Zhane.

Don’t let your jaw drop Romeo, said Tommy.

Chapter 4 The Return of Rachel

Back at the Silver Falcon cabin, Vitani and her friends were still in shock to find out Rachel is their 4th bunkmate.

Here I thought I was gonna have a great time at Camp Braveheart. Instead, I get a giant buzzkill in you three, said Rachel.

Yeah? Well right back at you, said Ruby.

Whatever. Dibs on the top bunk!

Wait, I wanted the top bunk, said Kimiko.

Too bad, so sad.

Vitani held back Kimiko and whispered in her ear.

Look Kim. I don’t like Rachel any more than you do. But she is our bunkmate, and we do need a 4th player for the camp games. So bare with it.

Fine. I’ll put up with her… for now.

Hey, Rachel, we were heading to the cafe. Are you coming? Vitani asked.

And why would I do that?

So, we can discuss strategies on winning the olympics. We are a team you know.

I guess you’re right. Fine, let's go eat.

Rachel dropped her stuff and left the cabin.

I hope you know what you’re doing Vee, said Ruby.

Yeah, Rachel hasn’t been here for five minutes and she’s already a jerk, said Kimiko.

Easy girls, it's called killing with kindness. If we can just keep peace with Rachel. Camp will go smoothly.

Keeping peace with one of the biggest bullies in school? Sure, that will be a snap, said Ruby.

The girls made their way to the cafe to see a huge line.

Oh, great it had to be a long line, said Ruby.

Hey there’s Rachel, maybe she will let us have a spot in line, said Vitani.

Yeah, we’ll see.

Yo Rachel could get in front of you please, asked Vitani.

Hmm…no. Not interested.

What? Come on, we're cabinmates.

True but we’re not in the cabin, are we? So, get to the back of the line.

Vitani glared at Rachel who smirked and turned her back to the girls.

Easy Kimiko, we just have to put up with her for a little while, said Vitani.

I don’t know why she has to be a jerk all the time.

Kimiko, Ruby, Vitani, you can get in front of me!

The girls saw Jose waving to them.

Jose, I thought you would be with the guys, said Vitani.

Oh they’re here too. I had to use the bathroom, and they already got their food by the time I came out.

So, you ladies got stuck with Rachel Owens as your fourth bunkmate huh?

Unfortunately, said Kimiko.

Well, that sucks.

The four got their lunch and sat at the table with Zhane, Michael, and Tommy.

Hey sis. I was wondering when you were gonna get here.

It took longer than we thought Zhane.

Yeah, and it would have been longer if it wasn't for Jose letting us cut in line, said Kimiko.

Oh man you girls got stuck with Rachel Owens.

Talk about bad luck, said Mike.

I can’t wait to see how the camp olympics play out for you, said Tommy.

That’s only if Rachel will work with us instead of against us, said Vitani.

Well after this we’re gonna go to the camp gym and start training for the Braveheart Olympics. Not only is beating the Black Lions a priority but this new team called the Red Jaguars too.

Wow everyone is competitive at this camp, said Ruby.

Yep, the Blue Wolves and Silver Falcons have a lot to do before the tournament, said Tommy.

Well tomorrow it's all out training, said Vitani.
