Your Away

Love that has left and returned

By Henry WatsonPublished 2 months ago 2 min read

Your Away

He was sitting there, watching, gazing out the window, waiting for the one person he has grown to depend on, the one he has so desperately been waiting for. She has been away for a long time, she had to return to her native country, the authorities had sent her back after her visa had expired, there was a mistake in some of the paperwork, and it had to be sorted out before she could return to him.

His life had changed once he met her, she was young and beautiful, but she had known painful relationships, He was older and was no stranger to pain himself, they had a chance meeting, and had continued to talk for months, when she had to return home to her elderly parents they continued to talk by letter.

It was a hard way to continue a relationship, but others had done it, it was the only way older generations could do it, so they both put on a brave face and wrote to each other, their letters getting more and more passionate each day.

Painful memories continued to creep into his mind, he was lost without her, he could not focus on much, and was getting depressed, finding it harder and harder to keep going. But he had to, his children needed him to be there, they had lost their mother a while ago and didn’t want him to go so soon. So, he pushed on, living one day at a time for now.

She too had painful memories to live with and now her children were having some tough times because of poor decisions, her parents were ill, and she could go back to her adopted homeland until some silly government paperwork had been rectified.

Then a Taxi pulled up, and she got out, he was in tears, he did not know she was back, she paid the driver, collected her suitcase and walked up to the door, when he opened it, there she was, to him more beautiful than he could have ever remembered, with a smile on her lips that would melt the coldest heart, and tears of love in her eyes. He too had tears in his eyes, he could not believe she had returned. She wanted to surprise him which she certainly did.

Their embrace turned into kisses and a long conversation which lasted well into the next morning, with all the love, a lovers reunion comes with.
