“Well, it looks like we’re going to be here for a while,” Carter Lingdon pointed out.

“Could it be an hour, two hours?” his daughter Valerie asked half in fear, half in astonishment.

“Maybe. We should just see what the emergency crew does in order to free us from this situation,” Lingdon continued.

Their cropped afros looked to be frozen in space while the other riders' hair tumbled downward while still suspended in the sky.

“I’m thirsty, Daddy,” Valerie said.

“We’ll get all the soda and slushies they have once we’re off this thing,” he said.

“I just can’t wait.”
