Wrath of Night Chapter 7
by Alex Kincaid

"Silex," Kincaid whispers in disbelief. He lets out a roar, and jumps off the ledge. Kincaid lands amid a crowd of demons. He draws his sword and says, "Sorry to crash the party."
"Kincaid wait! Stop! What about the plan? Shit!" James announces furiously. He runs for the exit.
Kincaid slashes his way toward Silex. Eventually, he is overpowered by the droves. The demons drag him to the front, and force him to his knees in front of Silex.
Silex takes Kincaid's chin in his hand, and examines his face. Kincaid's bruises heal before his very eyes.
Silex speaks, "Alex Kincaid."
Kincaid responds, "Sorry, I don't recall your name. All you scumbag demons look the same to me."
Silex snarls, "Let me jog your memory!"
Silex stabs his claws through Kincaid's eyes. Kincaid screams. In seconds, he heals.
Silex continues, "I see you have put the Eye of Osiris to good use. Where is it?"
Kincaid replies, "Somewhere safe."
Silex motions to his guards, "Take him to the dungeon! At dawn, we take his head."
INT. DUNGEON - SUBTERRAINIAN - LATER
Kincaid is alone. Locked up. He talks to himself, "Well, I fucked this one up."
Kincaid tests the bars, rattling them. A guard hears this and comes around the corner.
DEMON GUARD shouts, "Silence prisoner!"
Suddenly Demon Guard's face evaporates. He falls to the ground. James is behind him, his hands still glowing. James grabs the guard's keys and unlocks the cell.
Kincaid says, "I thought you took off."
James says back, "Why? Because you're an idiot? Let's go!"
INT. KINCAID'S APARTMENT - LATER
Kincaid is distraught. He angrily throws expensive objects around.
James speaks first, "So, the guy that killed you is back from the dead. I kind of figured that sort of thing happens in your world."
Kincaid says, "You don't get it. It's my fault he's back. It's my fault they're here."
EXT. WAREHOUSE - NIGHT
Kincaid narrates another flashback.
"It was eight years ago. I was tracking a dark magic user named Kormac. I approached a building with a dark cloud of energy over the roof. I knew he was inside. Kormac had been dabbling in sorcery, but nothing major yet. That was about to change. He was set to make The Deal. Sell his soul to The Devil.
I approached a large open area. Kormac had his back turned, and was kneeling in the center of a pentagram painted on the floor — in blood. I slowly drew my sword.
I had to get Kormac before he completed the spell. The Deal is one of the most unpredictable and powerful turns in The Underworld. Kormac could become unstoppable and extremely dangerous. I took no chances. I set charges around the building on a 10-minute timer. Just had to keep him distracted long enough for them to fire.
Kormac carved three sixes into his arm with a blade. The room began to shake.
I decided to get his attention by scraping my sword against the concrete floor. I hollered, 'Kormac!'
He turned around and shouted, "No, no, no! Not now!"
I paced around him, with my katana poised, 'I have taken a vow,' I said, 'To rid Earth of your kind. Evil must be banished back to Hell where it belongs. I tell you this: your Soul will be dragged down to Hell today.'
'You don't understand," explained Kormac, "You're dooming her."
I stopped suddenly, confused. I asked, "What are you talking about?"
In a hospital room nearby, a LITTLE GIRL lay still — connected to life support. Kormac's daughter. He was doing it for her. It was her last chance.
Back at the warehouse, I said to Kormac, "I'm sorry. It's too late.”
The building exploded.
If you viewed the building from the exterior, you would have seen the fireball rip through the structure, bursting out every window.
In the hospital room, the little girl flatlined.
Kormac was innocent. His soul wasn't damned. Turns out God has strong feelings about selfless sacrifice.
I realized what I had done. I walked out of the building, out of the flames. My burnt flesh healed at a rapid, unbelievable rate."
INT. KINCAID'S APARTMENT - PRESENT DAY
The flashback ends. Kincaid speaks, "That was it. Humanity was cut off. The gateway closed for good. No more angels. Demons getting stronger; their numbers ever increasing."
"But if your actions caused this," says James, "Then, it has to be you that can open it."
Kincaid responds, "I'm just a stupid man, who damned his soul in one awful moment."
James says, "There has to be a way. We've got to try."
Kincaid says, "It doesn't matter. I know my mission. I'm going to kill Silex, or die trying."
James shakes his head, "Without the Angels it's a suicide mission."
Kincaid lays down an ultimatum, "You're either in or out."
James opens the door to the hallway, and turns back. He says, "You're crazy! I'm not dying for you. I'm out."
James leaves.
