What would you do?

Musings on human flaws

World born.

Amoeba spawn.

Industrial revolution.

Evolution, we believe it somehow leads us to absolution.

Steam trains helped us travel

Which is a marvel,

But. Families are more scattered

What once mattered

Does not exist in the same way

We need our tribes

In order to survive

To pass on wisdom and stories

And tales of past glories

We are supposed to gather

With mother and father

With friends, to laugh and make amends

To share, and hug and give support,

We cannot be taught

This from the likes of A.I

We built computers, the likes of Amstrad and Sony

But we are lonely.

Staring into our screens

What does it all mean?

We are supposed to connect

But instead we have wrecked

What we should love

I mean, we have done good things,

Science discovered penicillin

And the invention of the phone

Meant you could talk to others who weren't in your home

This is such a magical thing

Hearing the telephone go RING RING!

But we still can't see into that person's eyes

And see where their heart lies

Humans create.

We want everything great.

But why did we want to conquer space,

When we can't even keep our own place

Neat and clean,

Pristine. We are so mean,

To each other, to animals, to nature

Why can't we nurture,

That what is around us

Why do we damage what surrounds us?

We cut down the plants and the trees,

We remove habitats for the bees

And the hedgehogs no longer have places to breathe

To breed, to feed,

Why can't we just leave

Well alone?

We capture.

We use and desecrate.

We create new ways to hate

From Hitler, to Putin, and now Trump

What a chump

What a way to dump

Everything we should be fighting for

By being held to ransom by a bully we abhore

We literally destroy ourselves

We cannot be trusted to help

The world is forlorn.

Why were we born?

We should learn from the Aborigine tribes

They don't mock and subscribe

To the philosophy of take take take

And making everything fake

Why do we have Kardashians

Why are we so Machiavellian

Real tribes only take what they need

And they give back indeed

Careful to heed

Nature's warning

That we will soon be mourning

The loss of our home turf

Of planet earth

Of everything we need (or THINK we need)

We must act in speed

But it is too late

To contemplate

The future because...

Suddenly God claps his hands in derision

And hands you a decision

YOU decide right now!

YOU are now God

Now have a deep think

Do we let the world sink

And let human evil sink

Into the cosmos

Now that YOU are the big boss?

Will you watch everyone you love disappear

Or will you turn the reset gear

Do we start the earth again?

Knowing our penchant for creating complete oblivion

Would YOU recreate men?

Stream of Consciousness

This is really, really good! You could have posted it in poetry too. Many good lines, like these: Why do we damage what surrounds us? We cut down the plants and the trees, We remove habitats for the bees And the hedgehogs no longer have places to breathe And yeah, why can't we leave well enough alone! Super job.
