What is Needed
A lance corporal experiences being in an office setting as a Devil Dog.
The printer issued out a stack of forms to be signed off on by Master Sergeant Jonah McCarthy.
“How’s it feel to be a paper punk?” Corporal Melissa Malik pestered with a smile plastered on her face.
“Ha ha,” Lance Corporal Brighton Dallard replied.
“It’s different than getting shot at and blown but it sucks somehow, no?” She asked.
“Of course but it’s just so boring,” he said.
Then the room went dark and heavy bass music played with flashing laser lights.
“This is a party,” Staff Sergeant Joel Jericho said.
Bewildered, Dallard raised and danced. It wasn’t a dream.

Chanda sent home money every two weeks. In a small village in India, she deposited money into the bank account of her Aunt and Uncle who sent her to live in America. The place seemed so remote, almost cut off from the rest of the country. There, a festival took place where participants hurled cow eliminations at each other. The muddy, mucky sense of it had been known for centuries. Locals tied it to an ancient god who they believed restored people’s health with the cow plops. During the festival, thick patties hurled through the air and smushed into the bodies and faces of those rollicking around in the filth.

My New Book is Finally Here
My poetry collection Beautiful and Brutal Things is done. It's actually done and finally published over 270 pages. Over a year of my life went into this book. More than a year, really. Long days at my computer, sometimes seven days a week because I couldn't stop even when I probably should have. Then two months of editing that felt harder than the writing itself. But it's finished, and I'm still standing, and the book is real.
