What I Watched Over Christmas Break
Not all that is popular is good

I'll never understand why networks stop showing regular season material during holidays. In my opinion, we have so much down time and that's when we want to catch up and see the new shows that were supposed to be on, especially if you don't have many plans it's a great way to be able to enjoy your shows. I digress.
I was flipping through the my options, I came to Prime TV and saw a Hallmark + series Mistletoe Murders and played the first episode. Now I don't love a Lifetime or Hallmark movie unless it's good but that's rare. I really enjoyed this episode of Mistletoe Murders. I had no idea Hallmark has three to four channels and my cable, Youtube TV. But Youtube only has the other three NOT including Hallmark +. After my first episode I had to pay to watch the rest so I found a free 7 day trial on my Youtube TV. If you're looking for a cute but good Holiday show, I highly recommend.
Our Little Secret on Netflix with Lindsey Lohan. I'm so happy Lindsey Lohan looks and is doing great BUT I thought this movie was not great. It's cute but boring and I even cut it short couldn't finish. I love Lindsey's work but this didn't do it for me.
No Good Deed on Netflix with a star studded cast Lisa Kudrow, Linda Cardellini, Ray Romano, Luke Wilson and more. I had such high hopes for this series. I LOVE all the cast and I'm not going to say it was bad but it did fall short with my expectations. There was just something missing for me. I did finish it and it wasn't bad enough to drop it mid series but I did find myself distracted and losing interest at times. I mean with this cast it can't be awful, let's be real, it was good and I'll leave it at that.
Red One on Prime with The Rock Johnson and Chris Evans is a great action Holiday movie. I really liked it.
It Ends with Us on Netflix with Blake Lively was a REWATCH for me. I already saw it in the theatre but saw it again and I really love this movie. I've read the books and now with all the cast drama I'm sad to think the second movie will not be made with the same characters or at all?
Virgin River on Netflix is a soap opera feel. It's that cozy, comfy feeling you put on and relax. You don't have to be that invested or even know what's actually going on. Sometimes it's just background comfort (again soap opera style). There are six seasons out now and the seventh season is already green lit and being written as I type. This is a very popular show I think because of the small town, soap opera comfort it brings.
Carry On on Netflix with Taron Egerton and Jason Bateman was a NO for me. Just didn't work. The beginning reeled you in, you're intrigued but then slowly gets worse. I love Jason Bateman but this fell short for me.
Outer Banks new season Netflix I didn't get past the first two episodes. It's truly awful and I LOVE the previous seasons of Outer Banks and watched them all. The series isn't ending on a good foot.
Squid Game Season 1. I watched the first season because my sister is obsessed and season 2 has dropped after years. I think the first one came out 3-4 years ago. I never watched it because it didn't seem like something I'd like but she said it's that good, with the warning "yes it's twisted and yes it's sickish". She also warned me the first few episodes seem boring but once I get through that it gets good so I'm jumping on the bandwagon. I must say sick and twisted is an understatement. I'm personally not into such gory killing game shows and I'm shocked so many people loved it but I can only imagine it's popularity is from its engaging plot, complex characters, and the unique blend of social commentary and intense suspense. It combines elements of survival and psychological drama with nostalgic childhood games. They ask people that are in debt and or broke if they'd like to play games for money and with their desperation they go. They have no idea that most people will die once they lose the children games played.
Subservience on Netflix with Megan Fox. I have to give it to Megan, she played a really good robot. The movie is fine at the beginning but falls off making it a little less then fine.
Happy Holidays!
