Watching

Hoshi usually loved to sit outside her home that had big, beautiful trees and a pond that came right up to the house. She loved watching them as the seasons changed from one to the next, and the giant Maple tree that usually shed their leaves in the fall.
But on this particular year, the snows came earlier than expected; early enough for the tree to properly shed. Not that she was worried about it. In fact, her attention wasn't particularly on the tree, but rather on watching the snow gather on the ground around the pond and melt away as it hit the water.
The clouds above weren't very heavy, which meant it would be just enough snow to cover the ground, to give her something to watch for the next hour or so. In the distance, the evergreen trees took the brunt of the snow, as if they were built for it, which in fact, they were, and the setting sun almost gave the promise the snow would be gone by the next day.
The air was cold, but the breeze was gentle enough that it didn't make it too unbearable; especially since her legs were exposed to the air and her feet were in the ice-cold waters of the pond, which were usually a bit warmer.
Hoshi sipped at her sweet green tea, as she kicked her feet back and forth in the water, almost enjoying the cold sensation that she was feeling on her feet.
