Chapter 7

A friend in the midst of turmoil

Abdullah, Muaz and Maha ventured deep into the jungle so that the natives could not find them. After walking for a day, they saw some people hunting. Abdullah thought of approaching them but the problem was that they were dressed like the natives from the city they had escaped from. As Abdullah was thinking about approaching the hunting party a man saw him. He started shouting and all of the hunting party started to chase Abdullah and his friends. All three of them tried their best to out run them but due to exhaustion they failed. The hunting party tied their hands and made them prisoners. As the hunting party was getting ready to depart a man heard Abdullah talking to Muaz and understood their language. He started to talk with Abdullah and Muaz they were amazed as he was the first person in this unknown land that spoke their language. He asked them where they were from and how did they get here.

They told him the whole story how they got here and how they got enslaved by the natives. He told them that his name was Aarav and he was also from Gujrat region of India. He told them that he also accidently came to this land because the ship he was travelling on was caught in a cyclone and he only survived because he had washed up on the beach. He also told them that its been ten years since that incident.

As Aarav and the prisoners were having a conversation another hunter notice. He asked Aarav that what is going on. Aarav told him that they were innocent and were just like them. The hunter cut loose their hands and gives them water to drink. Aarav tells them that the city they were in is called Neherwan and its king is Harud Hunah and this unknown land is a new continent unknown to the rest of the world and the locals call it Azulum. He also adds that king Harud’s kingdom called The Kingdom of Eldius or simply Eldius is the only organized kingdom in Azulum other then that there are numerous tribal communities and several petty states in the western mountains.

Abdullah, Maha and Muaz were dumbfounded by this. Muaz inquired from Aarav that where does he lives. He told that he was also a slave in Neherwan but escaped and all the other hunters were also escapees or belonged to the Arktos tribe and lived in Vahir He added that when king Harud’s ancestors were gaining influence and conquering territories rapidly their main rivals and other power of the land were the Arktos but due to the decisive battle of Tenebris the House of Eldius got the upper hand and enslaved the whole of Arktos tribe and made them built a new capital for their newly found empire which is the city of Neherwan.

Abdullah, Muaz and Maha had now realized that they were stuck in a land that no outsider knows about. The hunting party departed and Aarav invited Abdullah and the others to join them. As they had no where else to go they started to travel with the hunters. After two hours they reached a small settlement. Aarav told them that this settlement is the town of Vahir created by the escaped slaves and the Arktos tribesmen.

Aarav took them to his home and had dinner with the them. The dinner table was very quiet as all three of them were trying to get their head around the things Aarav had told them earlier. Later that night none of them went to sleep the whole night they were all just lying down and tried to accept the reality but they were also ready to face anything as they had nothing to lose.
