VALLEY OF LIFE
spirit world
“There weren’t also dragons in the valley.” Ruby says to her two sisters as she hops up onto a large stone. “You’re right something strange is going on. I wonder what it is.” Sage joins her sister up on the stones to sunbathe her fins. The three sisters live in a small pool of water next to the garden of life in the valley of the spirit world. Blue was swimming around the water’s edge seemingly trying to avoid the conversation. Ruby is the oldest of the three sisters. She notices that Blue was acting very odd and calls out to her. “Blue what is up with you?” Also noticing that Blue wanted no part in what they were discussing. “What do you know?” Ruby says in her big sister probing way. “Nothing.” Blue replies but her words hinted to a secret, a very big secret and Ruby knew right away she was hiding something. “Do you know what’s going on with the dragons? If you do, you better tell us right now!”
Both sisters slid down from the stones swimming quickly toward Blue. “Sister! You better tell us now!” Ruby was adamant. “What do you know?” Sage calls out also and was more than curious. Blue tries hard to swim away hoping not to get cornered, but her sisters manage to box her in by the waterfall leaving her no room for escape. “I know nothing of the dragons.” Blue says and becomes quite upset with tears filling up her eyes.
Ruby pokes her sister’s arm. “Tell us Sister!” Blue starts to cry then Sage began to weep too. The sisters are linked in their emotions and when one cries the others cry also. Please tell us Blue.” Sage says between her sobs.
Blue had no time to respond for behind the huge waterfall the sisters could hear a tiny little soft voice whispering. “I scared Blue.” Ruby surprised, immediately drove underwater coming up behind the waterfall letting out a huge gasp. “Sisters!” She yells out. Sage and Blue follow Ruby under the waterfall and there they see a tiny little child. “It’s a mortal!” Sage says aloud. “Wherever did you find it?” Ruby was more than surprised to say the least. In fact, she was in shock.
There has not been a mortal human being in the spirit world for centuries. The sisters have heard of them but have never seen one ever before. “Oh, my it’s so cute.” Ruby says as she studies the little child with curly blond locks and brilliant blue eyes. “The little child starts to weep so Blue swims over and puts her arms around the child. “It’s ok little one. These are my sisters. They won’t hurt you.” Sage swims up close to the child also. “Yes child we won’t hurt you.”
“What do we do Sisters?” Blue cries out while holding the child tightly. “How did it get here?” Ruby asks as she swims closer to get an even better look. “I think she is a little girl, sister.” Sage says to Ruby. “I found her drowning. I have no idea how she got here. I just pulled her up and out of the water then hid her behind the fall. I couldn’t let her drown, could I? I did the right thing didn’t I?” Blue was unsure. She has this shy and timid way about her. A stark contrast from her sister Ruby with her fire red hair, bright red fins and could be quite bossy at times. “You did the right thing Blue.” Sage is trying to comfort her sister.
Blue again cries out louder this time. “Oh, what are we going to do?”
“Let me think.” Ruby ponders on what to do next. She thought to herself that they could not properly care for the human child since they were mermaids and live in the water. She then had a frightening thought crossing her mind causing her to gasp aloud. “What is it sister!” Sage asks instantly feeling the fear coming over her as well. “The dragons are flying over the valley because of the child. Did anyone see you hide the child?” Ruby inquires. “No one saw”
“Then the dragons must know something or sense something is out of balance.” The sisters begin to worry over the tiny little human child wondering what to do then Ruby has an idea. “Let’s send word to the angel king he will know what to do. He will protect the child.”
Sage and Blue stay behind the waterfall with the child while Ruby swims to the north side of the pool of water calling out with a soft simple tweet. She stretches out her arm and tweets again. Suddenly a bright red cardinal flew over and perched upon her arm. She guides the little bird upon her shoulder looking around making sure nothing was close enough to hear her words.
