beauty in nature

For as long as I can remember, I have been searching for something. I’m unsure as to what it is that I am searching for. I just know that I long for whatever it is that I’m looking for. Without that, all felt is an abyss of nothing, a spiraling of downwind nothingness. I reach and try to touch all that I can, to no avail.

I have no clue as to how much time has passed since my becoming. I’m still searching with no clue to the reason of my existence. Time passes without my knowledge and I am unsure as to why that is. All I know is that my presence is a necessity for some strange reason. All around me is black and cold. It is all I have ever known, when will it change? I ask myself this question an immeasurable amount of times. I have no actual reason to believe that it will, but I find myself hoping anyway.

Recently, the world around me has changed. I hold my breath as the cosmic sight overwhelms my senses. I have no clue how these changes have come about, but I do know that it is beautiful. I watch in awe as the swirls of light take place overhead and something strange occurs with these hard objects. I am afraid that if I were to blink that everything would cease to be. I look forward to seeing what changes will occur next, if they stay that is.

The changes have stayed and even evolved from the swirls and, what I now know as, rocks. Everything is taking shape, how? I have no clue as to what is being created, but I can’t help but feel that it will be wondrous. I am beginning to know and identify the strange things around me as time goes by. I am unsure as to how I gained this knowledge or how I was even conscious in the beginning, but it is as it has always been for me. Despite all these breathing taking things around me, I cannot help but begin to feel as though that which I am searching is still far from my ever-reaching grip.

I have come across a strange being recently. It is odd and I fear touching the odd being will cause it to shatter, so I don’t. It walks on four limbs and speaks in an odd manner with others like it. I have no idea where they came from, just that they have been recently added to this strange round place. They emit this strange feeling to me. I am unsure as to what to call it, so I have decided to call it, “Life.” Out of all the rocks that came into fruition, this one has to be my favorite.

These creatures have existed for some time and they have been joined by many other complex beings. They all radiate with what I call “Life” and they intrigue me so with the way they go about their time. They seem to have no real meaning to them, much like myself and I feel myself grow fond. Time continues to pass in immeasurable ways and all the creatures that live on this blue world evolve and change. Most still go around on fours or less limbs, except for those odd creepies that have way too many limbs for comfort.

I have come across an odd being that is unlike any of the others. It doesn’t go around on more than two limbs, nor does it behave the same as any of the others. It moves like it has a purpose. I am curious as to its purpose, but fear going to close. I rarely ever get close to any of these beings on this world. They all seem so temporary, which is why I assume they never have a real purpose. This two-limb walking thing seems to believe itself to have some sort of purpose, so I watch from a distance to see what comes about.

The being is what is considered a male, I was unaware that gender was a thing until recently. The knowledge appears to me one day as I observe the newly discovered being. It is alone much like I am, perhaps he is what I have been searching for after all this time? No, this male is not what I was searching for. If only because today I came to see that he has discovered another much like itself. A female is what this new being is, although I still see no need for such a thing like ‘gender’. I cannot help but watch as the two seem to converse in a way none of the other beings have before. I will continue to observe from a distance for now. Perhaps I will be able to connect with these beings once they have settled with one another.

The two-legged beings have evolved further than anticipated. There is now a mini one that was welcomed into the world recently. The elder two have done something that the other beings have never done. They have given each other and their offspring something called names. I am unsure as to why they have done this, but I will be sure to remember their names.

I have decided to call the two-legged beings as ‘humans’ given that they have continued to multiply. Quite rapidly, if I may say so. The original two humans have long since passed and I was happy to be there for them in their end. Humans have multiplied and have evolved further than any other being on Earth, which is what the humans call this amazing blue world. They have built and rebuilt entire empires as well as revolutionized the way they live. They are full of this thing called “Life” and I adore them for it. They do tend to be more violent than any of the other beings though. Sometimes they all seem so violent and lack care for others, but there is always those that rise above all of that. I still keep my distance because very few ever actually welcome me. It is okay though because I have come to terms with who and what I am.

I am the being called, “Death”. That which I was searching for has been with me from the very beginning. “Life” has been my opposite for the entirety of my existence, but I have come to accept that my wondrous companion has no singular form. I am never alone in my long existence and neither are you. For Death and Life encompass all.
