Unrequited love

Till death do us path

By Sakariyau Olatundun GaniyatPublished 3 years ago 2 min read

Sophie had been in love with Alex since the first day of college. She couldn't help but admire his classiness, his humor, and his thoughtful nature. No matter how hard she tried, Sophie couldn't stop thinking about Alex, and every time she saw him, her heart pounded in her chest.

Sophie was too shy to confess her feelings to Alex, and besides, it seemed like he was always surrounded by friends. She didn't want to risk being rejected in front of everyone, so she kept her feelings a secret.

Days turned into weeks, and weeks turned into months, but Sophie's love for Alex only grew stronger. She began to feel like she couldn't go on living without him, but she knew that it was impossible. There was no way that Alex could ever feel the same way about her, not when he was so popular and confident and charming.

Sophie was resigned to spending the rest of her life pining for Alex from afar when one day, he surprised her by coming to her room. Sophie was in shock; she couldn't believe that Alex was actually standing in front of her, looking serious.

"Sophie, there's something I need to tell you," Alex said, taking a deep breath. "I know that we've been friends for a while, and I hope you won't be angry with me when I say this, but… I'm in love with you too."

Sophie's heart skipped a beat. Was it possible? Had Alex really just declared his love for her? She was too stunned to say anything initially but then finally squeaked out, "You… You are?"

For a moment, they both stared at each other, unsure how to proceed. Then Alex gave Sophie a shy smile and said, "Yeah, I am. I've been trying to work up the courage to tell you for weeks now, but I didn't know how you'd react."

Sophie was filled with a sense of joy and relief that she had never experienced before. She felt like she was dreaming, and the happiness was almost too much for her to bear.

Over the next few weeks, Sophie and Alex grew even closer than they had before. They went on long walks, talked for hours over coffee, and spent more and more time together. They quickly realized that they had a lot in common, and that they loved each other for who they were, not just for some idealized vision of themselves.

Sophie knew that she had finally found the happiness that she had been searching for. She didn't care how long it had taken to get here, or how difficult the road had been. She was just grateful that Alex was finally hers, and that they could be together forever.

With each passing day, Sophie and Alex continued to fall more deeply in love. They spent every moment they could with each other, enjoying the simple pleasures of being together. They knew that their love was real, and they could feel it growing stronger every day.

Sophie learned that sometimes, the best things in life are worth waiting for. She had always thought that her love for Alex was unrequited, but she had been wrong. The love that they shared was real, and it was more than worth the wait. She felt proud of herself for having the patience to wait for it and taking a risk of confessing her love. They had a beautiful ending, living happily ever after.
