Unleashed Where No Life Dwells
They raged across the land and the sky for a thousand days and nights. While a few pushed eastward and northward, most followed the coast, racing along the length of the scorched continent. All that lived in the sky came down, and only a few made it across the water. To survive, they had to form groups in which all the species could live.

They raged across the land and the sky for a thousand days and nights. While a few pushed eastward and northward, most followed the coast, racing along the length of the scorched continent. All that lived in the sky came down, and only a few made it across the water. To survive, they had to form groups in which all the species could live. And with a terrible intensity that didn’t seem possible, the storms of winter came with enough force to knock down the few hills that still rose from the ground.
Rescuers had made it down to the shore, desperate for any sign of the population. Instead, they found wreckage and a trail of zombies that had survived the fall. They discovered bodies and a small piece of paper that made the exact location of the survivors clear. Without knowing exactly what else to do, they left and crossed to the north side of the island to track the creatures.
They stayed there for some time, hiding as best they could from the wolves, bloodsuckers, bears, and other creatures that prowled the island. While there, they found other survivors and the few families that had found their way to the beaches along the coast. In time, the survivors joined and formed their own small village, naming it “The Chasm” as a tribute to the passage between the wild and their native home. It was a little of luck that had them escape, but it was also a great sacrifice by the survivors who had sacrificed their lives for others.
Among the survivors was a man called Abner. The village became home to him and his family. During the early days of their new life, they found plenty of prey to hunt for food. Abner grew strong in this new environment and attracted a few followers.
Not long after, a family who had recently crossed the sea came to visit their new home. They had lost their own in the fall, but they were determined to bring as much help as they could. During their first month on the island, they had almost convinced the survivors that they caused the war, and most viewed them as horrible monsters.
But a few of the survivors had survived, and they were wise enough to know that the creatures had been there long before the survivors had arrived. As the rest of the village learned about these strange creatures, they found them to be almost as fascinating as they were terrifying. They were not only different from the rest of the animals on the island, but they were also incomparable.
Everyone wanted to be friends with the newcomers, but nobody trusted them. They believed the invaders had almost destroyed the wild species on the island, and they couldn’t let something like that happen again. Over the next few months, the newcomers helped the villagers by bringing fresh meat and berries to their small homes.
They had even helped by hunting the local wildlife. The villagers learned from the outsiders and let their children play with the creatures.
Some newcomers believed they were more than children. They claimed to be, in fact, members of some other species that were supposed to have died out millions of years ago. They claimed they had sent those that remained to find a new home and settle there. This would give them a chance to live in peace without having to fight for survival.
