Oliver and Christina are best friends on their way to their favorite bar named Frankie’s for the election results. As Oliver drives they both glance at each other with sarcastic smiles. Oliver is a Democrat who holds very liberal ideals and Christina is a Republican who holds very conservative ideals, yet they are best friends.

“So, my opposing gang member” Christina began sarcastically. “Looks like we’ve finally reached the end of the finish line.” “And boy wasn’t this quite the race” Oliver added. “But, all good things. It’s either girl power or the flaming hot Cheeto” Oliver joked. “Hey, don’t knock the flaming hot Cheeto” Christina joked. “Flaming hot cheetos are good.”

“Seriously tho, I am glad this election mess is gonna be over soon” Christina continued. “I agree” Oliver added. “I think the nation’s had enough division for one lifetime. Even from us.”

Suddenly the pair got quiet and the tone changed from laughter to serious. “You know, I really am glad that we were able to move past our differences, Olive-garden” Christina began. “Me too, Christmas” Oliver added. “We may disagree on many things politically, but that doesn’t mean we don’t love each other” Christina continued.

“You’re my best friend” Oliver began. “And I’ll never let these politics split us apart” he concluded. “Agreed” Christina added. Oliver parked his car and he and Christina exited the vehicle walking shoulder to shoulder inside the bar. When they made it inside the bar was filled with a raucous crowd wearing both red and blue, anxiously waiting for the result of the election.

In the midst of the bar chaos Oliver and Christina took their seats at the bar and awaited the results being broadcasted on television. “The results are in” the news anchor began. “Your 2024 presidential elect is…”

As the packed bar continued in excitement, Oliver and Christina held each other’s hands in a tight grip, refusing to be divided by the end result.
