The desk had enough items on it. Now this came across the Commandant’s desk. General Amy Dyser made it her business to understand the goal of the memo.

“In fifty years, sixty percent of the Marine force will be machines,” she read aloud. Her white skin almost blended with the document. She felt as if the paper was half joke half alarm. She leaned towards the latter.

Assistant Commandant Lieutenant General Gene Cantor tried to keep things cool. “What we can do is make sure our Marines our still well equipped to perform their duties alongside machines.”

“Yes, that’s it.”
