Under the Pear Tree
The Woman with a whole in her heart

There is always that dream of finding your Prince to come sweep you off of your feet and live happily ever after with you. Sure enough, the woman woke one day, and her dream came true.
20 plus years of hugs, kisses, love and honey do lists being done without having to be ask. She was pampered, never in need for one thing. Their love is the kind of love everybody dreamed about. They were social, had many friends and they did everything together. They danced, laughed and lived. He gave the same love to her daughter in which he called his own. They did have a son of their own and their family was complete. Perfect.
She worked in the medical field and he was a long hauler. As they got older and he wanted to be home more he began working near. They were able to spend even more time with one another.
The years went by, the kids grew up and the love never changed. Until one day.
You see, in his younger years, he was a sailor in the Navy. Nobody knew of the monster on the boat with him that would come back as her worst nightmare many years later.
He ended up getting a promotion at his job which would mean they would have to relocate. She retired and up they went! They hopped on their Harley Davidson motorcycles and took a road trip to check out their new home! Little did they know that this would be their last ride together.
They had been in their new place for a very short time. Their belongings were scheduled to arrive soon. However something was wrong. He couldn't breath. It was bad so she took him to the hospital. To her surprise , he was given a few days to live. He had been suffering from asbestos poisoning. He had been feeling bad for a while however never told anybody. He was a prideful man and never let anybody know when he wasn't well. His lungs were full and he was dying... then he was gone. Just like that, her Prince was gone.
Time went by, she moved back to her home that was near her daughter but eventually ended up moving to another state where her siblings were. She was so used to being social and doing things that she felt being around them would provide some of what she was missing. And it did, for a while.
Her brother had a long time friend that she began to click with. They began to get close and before she knew it she was in a relationship. Everybody was supportive yet concerned. It wasn't that long ago that her Prince left her. But she was laughing and seemed happy.
Soon, she found her self engaged and planning a wedding! Her family was very concerned that it was too soon, but she kept saying that she was fine. She would go fishing, go out with friends and dinners with her new man and all seemed great to her. A new adventure.
Until the wedding..
The wedding came. She had a beautiful dress, amazing makeup and her entire family came from all over to support her and celebrate with her. She smiled. But there was something missing.
Something missing is an understatement. 6 years later, she is surrounded by a beautiful home that she built, two dogs that her and her new husband love and she sits alone. No hugs, no going out, no fishing, no I love you's. He isn't her Prince. She doesn't know how to be in a relationship with any other kind of love, other than the perfect love. She is hungry for touch, social life, being pampered. Her now husband doesn't do any of that, anymore.
So, everyday, she goes out onto their field and sits under the pear tree. She takes her little dogs, her wine and her tablet and sits there for hours. Her tears pour down and her hole in her heart bleeds for her one true love. Why did he have to go? Why was he taken from her? How can she ever replace him?
Looking around, she knows what she needs to do. However, her heart is still so broken that she is frozen in time. So every time you drive by and see a woman sitting under a pear tree, toss her a Rose. She will know its a message from her Prince.
