Twins,The Unseen Connection

My dad and his twin sister, Nelly, who was actually named Helen but always called Nelly, were born on August 27, 1919. As children, they had an uncanny connection. If one of them cried or laughed, the other would feel it, even if they were in different places.

As they grew up, they both got married. Nelly had three children, and each time she went into labor, my dad would feel the labor pains and be doubled over in discomfort until she gave birth.

Later on, Nelly worked in an ammunition factory. One day, there was a big explosion, and even though my dad was miles away at home, he suddenly grabbed his neck and rubbed his arm, knowing that something had happened to Nelly and that she had been hurt.

It’s a truly special story that shows just how strong their bond was throughout their lives!

One day in particular, my dad was sat at home with my mum, and he had a strange feeling that he needed to go to Auntie Nellie's. So, he called two buses to go to her home. Her husband had just come back from the army, having served in Burma, where he brought back with him a very old sword. When my dad got there, Auntie Nellie had the sword, and she was threatening to murder her husband with this sword because of something that he'd done while in the army behind her back that hurt her deeply. And I can't go into the details of that, obviously.

So, my dad tried talking to her to calm her down, and he asked her to go and put the kettle on. So, in she went, and my dad immediately picked the sword up, took it, left the house, and called two buses back home because we lived by a canal and a brook that ran alongside it. Well, the brook, obviously, is sewage, and they said there's no bottom to it. It was thick, dirty, smelly water, and it is an open brook, and it's still there to this day. It's never been filled in. It's still running.

So, my dad took the sword there and threw it into the brook, watching it sink. He and my mum then went back to Auntie Nellie's to talk her down and calm things down, which they did. It worked out.

But that wasn't just the end of it. In life, there were lots of things that they did together that nobody else had even dreamed of. Like when one had no money, the other would turn up with money out of the blue. When one needed food—mainly my dad and my mum—if they had no money for food, then Auntie Nellie would show up with a hot pot or something she'd made.

And also, when Auntie Nellie died in 1979 of a stroke, my dad was ill for weeks with a bad headache, and that must have been the pain that she was feeling. She died in '79, and my dad went on until 1988, and then he died.

So now, we're all laughing and joking, imagining them both together, sat talking and laughing and trying to fix the world. But the connection as twins was so uncanny. It was just unbelievable. It was something there between them both that you couldn't see. You couldn't feel it, only they shared this very special bond from the moment they where born, till death.

There are lots things I could add to this story, however I want to keep it short and to the point. I often wonder do they share this bond in heaven the same as they did in life. Rest in Peace Dad and aunty Nelly ❤️❤️

It's the twin thing. What a great relationship these two had and still have in heaven at least that's what I believe. Twins and even any multiple births have special qualities that we cannot explain fully.
