A young girl named Cassie was just a normal high school student. She made two new friends, Rose and Natasha, who were transfers. They were involved in rumors, secrets and they kept things about themselves a secret so it won’t jeopardize their friendship. Years after graduating from high school, they led very different lives. Cassie has a daughter and son. Rose has two girls and a boy. Natasha has two boys and a girl and her mother would often visit her. Cassie’s husband is serving overseas and writes to her, their son James and daughter Miranda. Rose’s husband is a newspaper writer and gives advice to their oldest daughter Francine, middle son franklin and youngest daughter kelly. Natasha’s husband is an author and places his books for their oldest son, Martin, middle child Belle and youngest son brian.

The three of them met at their old hangout place which was a diner downtown. There they told each other things they had not mentioned to each other or anyone else before. Cassie had got a dent in her car after backing up into someone else’s car by accident. Rose had put out a small fire in her house and Natasha had a nasty break up during her junior year. Soon they would discover their children are keeping secrets of their own.

Cassie’s son James would find different detours to the house after being chased by a group of boys everyday after school. He would jump over a few fences and sneak past several backyards until he found the house. Miranda, who would be home first, lets James in. He is usually sweating and panting hard because he is running everywhere. Miranda herself had been rumored to be stealing answers to an upcoming math test. Rose’s daughter Kelly had a failing grade in English so she hired a tutor to help Kelly. After the tutor had helped her within the first couple of sessions, she developed a crush on him but wanted to keep it from everyone in the whole household.

Francine had snuck out of the house one day and got on a bus to go downtown. The only one to see her leave was her brother Franklin. She headed to a tattoo parlor and had received a small tattoo of a rose on her upper left back. She sneaks back into the house without anyone waking up. Natasha’s daughter Belle had got involved in a rumor which was really embarrassing enough for her. Many of her classmates believed that she kissed a guy who already had a girlfriend. She feared the worst when it got out that everybody would turn on her, the couple would break up and the girlfriend would blame her.

A week later, footage showed that Miranda did not steal the answer key but someone else did and placed it on her desk when no one else was around. That student was later called into the principal’s office. James still had trouble finding detours where the group would not find him so easily. But Cassie, who came home early, saw him running from her neighbors backyard and was really confused. That’s when he told her about being chased after school. So the next day she had a discussion with the school which suspended the boys. Belle was finally off the hook when the rumor turned out to be false.

Rose noticed a number to the tattoo parlor was on Francine's bedroom floor and was shocked to see the actual tattoo. Both Rose and Francine were arguing about the tattoo until the phone rang. Rose picked up and it was Cassie telling her that her aunt died. So she, Rose and Natasha took their families to the funeral to pay their respects. Rose and Francine made up during the reception.

Cassie Rose and Natasha look through each other's scrapbooks and high school yearbooks. They showed their children the books and they cherished the memory with them. The three women rode into Cassie's car which she had since senior year. They drove on a bridge which was the same bridge they rode on after their high school graduation.
