Travis Kelce quips Taylor Swift 'gonna kill me' after podcast mishap

Travis Kelce recently suffered a hilarious podcast mishap, and the NFL star jokingly fears the wrath of his fiancée. During a recent recording of the New Heights podcast, things took a chaotic turn, prompting Kelce to quip that Taylor Swift is "gonna kill me."

The 36-year-old Kansas City Chiefs tight end was recording the episode from his home when disaster struck. While laughing hysterically at a joke made by his brother, Jason Kelce, Travis leaned back in his chair a little too far. Suddenly, a loud crack echoed through the audio before the athlete lost his balance and tipped backward.

After the scramble, Jason exclaimed, "Oh s--t! Are you alright?"

Recovering from the tumble, Travis assured the Philadelphia Eagles alum, "We're good." However, realizing he may have broken the furniture, he jokingly added the punchline: "Taylor's gonna kill me."

Missed Lyrics and "New Heights" of Confusion

This isn’t the first time the athlete has expressed nervousness regarding the singer-songwriter. Earlier in January, a funny moment occurred regarding Taylor Swift’s music. Travis failed to catch a reference in her 2025 hit song Wood, which fans speculate is about Travis' manhood.

The confusion started when a fan noticed that none of the new podcast merchandise featured the phrase, "New Heights of Man-Hoodie."

Podcast producer Brandon Borders had to explain the "Life of a Showgirl" reference to the Kelce brothers. "The lyric, ‘New Heights of manhood,’ it’s the time we were referenced in the album," Brandon clarified.

Jason admitted he is "not as good with the Easter eggs as these Swifties," while Travis simply confessed, "I didn’t understand that." Once again, he laughed that his failure to spot the reference meant "Taylor's gonna kill me."

Praising Taylor Swift's Music

Despite the missed cues and broken chairs, Travis has picked up on the song’s more obvious lyrics—and admitted he is nervous about his dad hearing them. Swift fearlessly sings in the track that "love was the key that opened my thighs."

Reacting to the steamy line on the podcast, Travis previously said, "Dude, I’m terrified."

However, the sentiment remains sweet. "I love that girl," Travis Kelce said, adding that he is honored by "any song that she would reference me in," proving that despite the podcast mishap, he is still Taylor Swift's biggest fan.
