A Separation That Still Hurts

I saw you today from afar. I ‘ve missed you like roots miss water in a drought-stricken earth. You look good, younger, fresher. It seems that your new family has made quite the impression on you.

I’m sorry that, when we were together those last few years, you didn’t get cared for as well as should have. The love was there, but my priorities changed. You were my whole world, my haven and then I had to cut ties.

My dreams are always centered around you. Now, it’s just my photos and memories that keeps me grounded.

You aren’t mine anymore. But you’ll always be my home.

Heartbreaking, and yet this while this feels sad, it's also reflective in a good way. "Now, it’s just my photos and memories that keeps me grounded."- the only traces at the end of a relationship:/

This is a sad little story about leaving home or losing someone. Made me a little sad reading it. Good job.
