The court has rejected the case against seven people, including the chairman of Chambal Union Parishad of Chittagong's Banshkhali and convenor of the union Awami League, Mujibul Haque Chowdhury, on the charge of threatening to publicly beat up US ambassador Peter Haas posted in Dhaka.
International Human Rights Commission Bangladesh Chapter President MA Hashem Raju filed this case in the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Farzana Shakila Sumu Chowdhury on Monday (November 13). The court dismissed the case as it did not have the necessary material to accept it.
The other accused in the application are Iftekhar Uddin Babu, Sajjat, Ehsan, Farhad, Nashir and Saiful of Chambal Union Parishad.
Earlier in the morning, the court said that it will take the plaintiff's statement and give an order later. The plaintiff's lawyer Sirajul Islam Sarkar confirmed the matter.
It is said in the application of the case that Mujibul Haque Chowdhury threatened US Ambassador Peter Haas in the presence and cooperation of all the accused in a public meeting in Banskhali on November 6. He threatened to kill Peter Haas and made lewd comments.
