“The Yellow Lifesaver”

A banana a day may keep many struggles away

By MALIK ABDUL JABBARPublished 7 months ago 1 min read

Ali was always late. Late to college, late to breakfast, late to life. He was constantly tired, despite sleeping well. “You need coffee,” friends said. But it wasn’t caffeine he lacked—it was potassium.

One day, while waiting at the bus stop, he fainted. It turned out his blood pressure was dangerously low, and his body was begging for something simple: balance.

The doctor told him, “Eat a banana every day.”

At first, Ali laughed. A fruit as a cure? But he tried. One banana every morning.

The change was subtle at first. Less dizziness. A bit more energy. Slowly, his focus returned. His stomach problems eased. Even his anxiety reduced.

Bananas are underestimated. They're not exotic or glamorous. But they are powerful. Loaded with potassium, vitamin B6, fiber, and natural sugars, they support the heart, nerves, and brain.

They help muscles recover after exercise, maintain healthy blood pressure, and provide quick, sustained energy. For people in hot climates like Pakistan, where dehydration is common, bananas are a natural electrolyte source.

Ali stuck with it. Two months later, he wasn’t the tired, foggy boy anymore. He started jogging. He stopped skipping class. It wasn’t just the banana, of course—but it was the beginning.

Food is medicine, if we let it be.
