The worth of a Human.

Our story begins in the year 2927. Forty years after humans figured out that money doesn't actually matter that much. The fact that more gets made every day, kind of reduces the value or it. So people decided that currency all together should be thrown in the bin.

Looking back through the years we decided that the people who often had the most power were generally gifted it through popularity. The more you are loved, the more power you had.

Love was how we decided who had the most.

So t hats when it was decided. Money means nothing anymore. Everyone starts life as equals. This is when the lockets were invented.

Every newborn had a heart shaped locket surgically attached to the chest and connected to the human heart. Free of course. It was now every human beings right to receive a locket.

To be honest I suspect they were only actually connected to the human heart for a more sinister purpose, but most people believe that the lockets are connected to the person's soul....how romantic.

The real purpose of the hearts is because a person's worth is measured entirely by their Love Points. Every person starts their life with one Love Point. In order to exchange or gain points someone has to transfer to you a point. Willingly I might add. To do this you must make eye contact with the person you are sending the point too. Then press you're heart stone to send. If that person is to reciprocate then you will each gain an extra point.

However, if it is not reciprocated then you will loose the point you send and only the person you sent it too will gain the point. A classic tale of when someone doesn't love you back.

It worked out quite well for the first few years. The more points you gained the higher you're status.

There was never a need to go shopping  anymore, anyone could gather food, water, essentials anything really. As long as you had at least one Love Point. If you manage to find yourself at 0 love points, then you are considered as unloved or an unwanted person. The lowest class of people.

The ones who receive the most love points get raised to a much higher class and that is how presidents are elected, bosses are hired, performers, speakers and idols started to emerge.

Everything was going well, until people started to realize that the human heart can be very easily manipulated.

So began what we like to call 'Heartbreakers'. The people who make you fall in love with them just to suck the points out of you. Men and women who would court and swoon and dedicate months just to make you're heart bleed for them and then steal your points and piss off.

This is how most people ranking at 0 have gotten to where they are now. Because they spend their last point on a Heartbreaker only to get left behind.

This is how most famous people get to the highest levels of worth. By climbing over the bodies of people they have put down.
