The Witches Redemption

Vivian’s heart pounded as she darted through the twisted undergrowth, her breath coming in sharp, uneven gasps. The wolf-like creature bounded beside her, sleek fur glinting in the dappled sunlight that pierced the thick canopy above. Despite its fierce appearance, its amber eyes flicked to hers with an intelligence that seemed almost human.

A branch snapped somewhere behind them. Vivian froze. The creature growled low in its throat, a sound that made the hairs on her arms stand on end. From the shadows, two dark figures emerged, hunters, drawn by the faint magic that clung to her.

Without thinking, the wolf lunged forward, teeth bared. Vivian felt a rush of fear and exhilaration. Together, they moved as one: Vivian ducking and weaving, the wolf striking with precision. The hunters faltered, surprised by the coordinated defence of girl and creature alike.

Once the immediate danger passed, they found a small clearing beside a sparkling stream. The wolf sat back on its haunches, panting, and Vivian sank to the ground beside it. Her hands trembled as she reached out, brushing a hand along its neck.

Is this truly what this world has become? Vivian asked herself.

The wolf crawled closer to her feet, placing its head softly on her lap.

Vivian softly placed her hand on the wolf's head. I don't know what I would've done without you, she whispered,her voice thick with emotion. The wolf leaned into her touch,letting out a soft,almost connected sigh. In that moment,Vivian felt a connection deeper than words, a bond forged in fear,trust and shared pain.
