The Unspoken Love
How an IT Man fell in love with a female nurse
The Unspoken Love
He was an IT man. She was a nurse. They worked in the same hospital, but they never spoke to each other. He admired her from afar, but he was too shy to approach her. She noticed him sometimes, but she was too busy to talk to him.
They had a lot in common. They both loved books, music, and movies. They both had a sense of humor, a sense of duty, and a sense of loneliness. They both wanted someone to share their lives with, but they didn't know how to find them.
He knew her name was Anna. He learned it from the name tag she wore on her uniform. He also learned her schedule from the staff roster he had access to as an IT man. He tried to catch glimpses of her whenever he could, but he never dared to say hello.
She knew his name was Ben. She learned it from the email address he used to send IT updates to the hospital staff. She also learned his hobbies from the stickers he had on his laptop. She wanted to strike up a conversation with him whenever she saw him, but she never found the right moment.
They both secretly wished for something to happen. A power outage, a fire drill, a medical emergency, anything that would bring them together and force them to interact. But nothing ever happened. They remained strangers in the same building.
But as time went by, Ben realized that he couldn’t keep his feelings bottled up inside forever. He knew that he had to tell Anna how he felt, no matter what the consequences might be.
Until one day.
It was a rainy day. He was walking in the hallway with his laptop bag when he saw her coming out of the elevator with her umbrella. She smiled at him as she passed by. He smiled back and felt his heart skip a beat.
He decided to take a risk. He turned around and followed her. He caught up with her at the exit and tapped her on the shoulder.
"Excuse me," he said nervously.
She stopped and looked at him with surprise.
"Yes?" she said politely.
He swallowed hard and tried to sound casual.
"Hi, I'm Ben. I work in the IT department."
She nodded and smiled again.
"Hi, I'm Anna. I work in the ICU."
He nodded and smiled back.
"I know."
She raised her eyebrows and tilted her head.
"You do?"
He realized he had said too much.
"I mean, I've seen you around."
She nodded and waited for him to continue.
He took a deep breath and blurted out his question.
"Can I walk you to your car?"
She blinked and hesitated for a second.
She didn't have a car. She took the bus to work every day. But she didn't want to say no to him. She wanted to say yes.
She decided to take a chance.
"Sure," she said softly.
He felt relieved and happy.
"Great," he said eagerly.
He opened his umbrella and offered it to her.
She took it and thanked him.
They walked out of the hospital together under the same umbrella.
They started a new journey.
They talked on their way to the bus stop. They found out they had more things in common than they thought. They laughed at each other's jokes and listened to each other's stories. They felt a connection that they had never felt before.
They reached the bus stop and saw the bus coming.
He asked for her number.
She gave it to him.
He asked if he could call her later.
She said yes.
He asked if he could see her again.
She said yes.
They hugged goodbye and exchanged smiles.
They parted ways with hope and excitement.
They continued their journey.
They called each other every night and texted each other every day. They learned more about each other's lives and feelings. They grew closer and closer with every conversation.
They met again on their days off and went on dates. They watched movies, ate dinner, visited museums, walked in parks. They enjoyed each other's company and had fun together.
They kissed for the first time on their third date and felt sparks fly between them.
They fell in love with each other on their fourth date and confessed their feelings to each other.
They became a couple on their fifth date and made it official to their friends and family.
In the end, Ben learned that sometimes it’s better to take a chance and tell someone how you feel than to keep your feelings bottled up inside. And as for Anna and Ben? Well, let’s just say that they lived happily ever after.
They were happy together and couldn't get enough of each other.
