The Story of the Talking Wall.
If these walls could talk and what they would say.
Once upon a time, long ago, there was a peculiar wall in a small village. It was unlike any other wall that anyone had ever seen or heard. I say you heard because this wall was unique from all the walls in the land. After all, this wall could talk! Yes, you heard me correctly. This wall could talk.
And not only did the wall talk, but the wall also wouldn't shut up! Whenever anyone walked past it, the wall would chatter away like an old man telling stories and ramblings about his day. The wall was something like a historian. And the voice of the wall was absolutely regal! The voice of the wall was that of a baritone announcer. It was a voice no one could imitate and was so unique that you knew the wall was speaking as soon as you heard it.
You see, while this phenomenon happened a long time ago from now, the wall would tell stories from a long time ago! The stories the wall told weren't about any particular person, place, or thing. The stories were more like reminders of a time when life was much easier. The people in stories by the wall were generally happy, and most times, there was a moral to the story by the wall.
The wall told adventure stories featuring brave knights fighting fierce dragons, tales of courage in which heroes overcame impossible odds, and amusing anecdotes where animals outwitted their enemies with hilarious results. The stories captivated everyone who listened to them, and soon enough, everyone wanted to hear more and more about what this fantastic talking wall could say.
For example, one of the stories the wall told was like this... Once there was a town, and the town's elders were all blind men. They were wise in their respects and led the town the best they could as they were blind from the hard work they performed while building the town in a rock quarry during the daytime hours when the sun was bright. One day a traveling circus came to town, and with the circus came an animal called an elephant. But seeing as people from the town, including the blind men, never traveled, they weren't aware of what an elephant was or its shape or form. So out of curiosity, they all agreed that they must inspect this animal and get to know it by touch. So the blind men got together and began to touch the animal.
The first blind man who touched the animal landed on the trunk and said, "This feels thick like a large snake." Upon a second person's touch, they found the ear. "This feels like a large fan to me." Another one of the blind men had his chance to touch it, and he found the leg. "This feels like a large tree trunk, in my opinion." Another one of them touched the side of the elephant. "I could swear that this is a wall!" He exclaimed. The elephant's tail was found and described as a rope by one of the blind men. The last blind man felt the elephant's tusk, and he stated the part of the animal he felt was hard and smooth, like a spear.
This story illustrates that multiple perspectives can be accurate simultaneously, and none are entirely wrong. As a result, we should strive to consider all aspects of any situation instead of just one before making decisions or drawing conclusions.
The villagers, while well-educated by the wall, were all flabbergasted by this strange phenomenon. Soon word spread throughout the region about this mysterious talking wall. Many believed it must be a supernatural occurrence. Some thought it was a magical spell cast by a powerful wizard, while others thought aliens from another planet had come and left the wall behind. No one knew where this wall came from, and the wall had been around, talking for as long as anyone in the village had been alive.
But whatever people thought of this strange talking wall, they all agreed on one thing: they could never get enough of its stories! Every day, more and more people visited the wall hoping to hear something new and exciting from it.
The appearance of the wall was nothing extraordinary. It was a basic aged brick wall with a bit of plaster over it to keep it intact. The wall didn't have a mouth or anything that moved on the wall. The wall was simple and just made the sound, which was of stories.
The wall didn't answer questions. The wall didn't have conversations. The wall just talked. Even the times when the wall talked weren't ordinary. The stories didn't come at any particular time. The wall was on its own and unknown schedule. The wall could suddenly begin to tell a story at any time, in any season or weather condition. Be it day or night, its tale would await its listener.
Is the sound of a falling tree in the forest heard if no one is present to listen? This was an amusing question that townspeople often asked themselves. Would this tall wall still tell its stories without anyone there to hear it?
As years passed, the talking wall gained fame beyond the village boundaries. Visitors from other towns and cities started coming to see what this incredible phenomenon could do. Scholars traveled from faraway lands to study how such a fantastic feat was possible in the first place – but no matter how much research they conducted or how many books and articles they wrote, nobody could ever explain why or how the wall had come about.
Time and nature slowly ravaged the famous talking wall, despite its villagers' desperate attempts to protect it. They constructed a shelter around the aging monument to extend its life, yet as years passed, they watched helplessly while their beloved wall deteriorated due to age and wear.
Even the majestic voice from the wall began to fade. But the villagers refused to let the wall's legacy disappear with it. They transcribed each story to preserve its tales and created a collection of books filled with the talking wall's words. The wall's stories were passed down from generation to generation, and even today, this treasure trove of wisdom is still loved by many.
Throughout the years, stories have been how humanity has connected and learned from one another. Our tales of joy serve as a reminder of our shared celebration. In comparison, our stories can also remind us of times of sadness and distress. This wall is no exception - its legend continues to evoke curiosity, allowing us to immerse ourselves in exciting narratives that will last until the end of time. People often say this specific structure holds countless memories that are now told through generations; regardless if it's real or not, what remains true is that it has inspired many for ages!
