The Rice Field Debate

A Humorous Exchange Between Appuhami and the Elephant

By Rohitha LankaPublished 10 months ago 1 min read

Appuhami: You ate my rice field, didn't you?

Elephant: I ate what I had to eat....

Appuhami: Do you want me to eat? I'm making rice fields…?

Elephant: Why did you make rice fields in our elephant's field..?

Appuhami: How can this be yours..? This is our father's rice field.

Elephant: I ate this during your father's time too....

Appuhami: So father didn't tell us that..

Elephant:

That's the difference between father and you.....

Your father made rice fields here.... He dug rice fields, made a plant and took care of the harvest. He didn't go home to get rice like you.

We didn't eat the rice fields except when they heard the sound of the rice. But when they went to get rice, our baskets were opened.

We ate from that open field for six months. The remaining six months were eaten by Boge's father. That's how your father and I lived.

They didn't put oil on it like you did. When your father went to the forest to find a source of firewood, they didn't build a fence around the tank like you did. They didn't cut down trees in the forest like you did…

That's why there was no question between us that they were there during your father's time.
