The Red Book Ritual is a game that allows participants to communicate with spirits or otherworldly entities using a red book as a medium. It is believed that this ritual opens a portal, allowing the player to ask questions and receive answers from an unseen force. As with most paranormal games, there are inherent risks, and caution should be exercised throughout.
What You Will Need:
A Red Book. Avoid using books that are too short or with minimal content; A Red Candle; A Quiet Room. The room should be as silent as possible; Matches or a Lighter; A Sheet of Paper and a Pen
Rules:
Never Ask About Your Own Death. Asking about your death could bring unwanted consequences or dangerous entities.
Always End the Ritual Properly. If you stop without closing the portal, spirits or entities may linger.
Never Play Alone. Having a partner can help ensure you don’t miss any responses and can provide support in case something goes wrong.
Preparation:
The ritual is typically performed at night, but it is crucial that you avoid interruptions. Choose a time when the house is silent, preferably after midnight, when the veil between worlds is thinner. Sit in a quiet, dark room. Make sure all distractions are eliminated. Turn off your phone and any other devices that could interfere with the ritual. Sit in a circle with the other participants (if you’re not alone). Place the red candle in the center and light it with matches or a lighter. The red candle serves to attract spirits and protect you during the game.
Playing the Game:
The first participant should hold the red book in their hands, placing it with the front cover facing up.
The participant holding the book should place their hand flat on the book’s cover. This is essential to connect with the entity and begin the ritual.
With your hand on the book and your eyes closed, ask the following aloud: “Red Book, can I enter your game?” Speak clearly and wait for a few seconds before proceeding to the next step.
Without looking, open the book to any page at random. Keep your eyes closed as you do this.
With your eyes still closed, use your finger to point to a random spot on the open page. This will be the "answer" to your question.
Open your eyes and read the sentence or passage that your finger is pointing to. This sentence will provide you with an answer to your question. The answers may be cryptic or symbolic, but they are said to come from the spirit or entity that you are communicating with.
If the sentence seems positive or neutral, this means that the entity has allowed you to enter the game and continue. If the sentence seems ominous or negative, the spirit has denied you entry. You must ask for permission again, and if you are denied a second time, stop the ritual immediately and end the game (steps for ending the game are below).
If permission is granted, you and any other participants can continue asking questions. Each person should take turns holding the red book, placing their hand on the cover, asking a question, and opening the book to a random page to get their answer. (Keep the questions simple and straightforward, such as “Is there anyone here with us?” or “What do you want?” Avoid overly complex or philosophical questions, as the answers may become harder to interpret.)
Always ask questions in a respectful tone. Remember, you are communicating with an unknown entity, and disrespect may provoke negative consequences.
Ending the Game:
After each participant has asked their questions or when you feel it’s time to end, you must ask the following question: “Red Book, may I leave your game?”
Open the book again at random, just as you did before. If the sentence seems positive or gives a feeling of closure, you may leave the game.(NOTE) If the answer seems negative or unclear, you must continue asking for permission until you receive a positive response. Do not leave the game until you’ve been granted permission to exit.
Once you have received permission to leave, blow out the candle. This signifies the closing of the portal and the end of communication with the spirit world.
After the Game, dispose of the Candle. Either bury it in the ground or throw it in running water (such as a river or stream) to ensure no lingering connection to the spirit world. It’s recommended that you cleanse the room afterward using sage, salt, or another form of protection. This helps ensure that no spirits remain after the ritual.
NOTE:
If you are denied entry to the game or if you receive a negative response when asking to leave, stop and end the game as safely as possible. Do not push the spirit or force communication.
It’s advised not to play the Red Book Ritual too frequently, as repeated attempts can weaken the veil and allow unwanted entities to linger.
If you notice unusual occurrences after the game, such as strange sounds, flickering lights, or disturbing dreams, you may have attracted a spirit that has not fully left. Cleansing the area and yourself with sage or salt may help remove any lingering energy.
The Red Book Ritual is not just a simple game but a serious form of spiritual communication. Like all paranormal rituals, it carries risks. Proceed with caution and always show respect to the unknown forces you may be interacting with.
