The Price of Ambition

When Success Comes at the Cost of Loyalty

By Shahriar Kabir AnikPublished 2 years ago 3 min read

In the core of clamoring Manhattan, in a city full of tall buildings, two best friends, Olivia and Emma, were as close as could be. They'd known each other since they were kids and shared all their secrets and dreams. They promised to always help each other out, no matter what.

They started their business in Olivia's small apartment. They worked late into the night, fueled by coffee and their big dreams. Olivia was really good at figuring out how big companies worked, while Emma was amazing at getting the word out about their idea.

Their ascent was fleeting. With Olivia ascending the professional bureaucracy and Emma creating efforts that caught the general climate, they appeared to be relentless. However, achievement, similar to a blade that cuts both ways, conveyed a profound cost.

As their professions took off, breaks started to shape in their once-strong kinship. Late-evening meetings to generate new ideas gave approach to missed calls and stressed discussions. Olivia's want achievement became unquenchable, blinding her to the obligations of reliability. She saw Emma not as a companion, but rather as a venturing stone on her way to the top.

The essential second came when a sought after advancement lingered not too far off. Olivia, driven by desire, saw Emma not as a partner but rather as rivalry. In the merciless world they occupied, there was no space for wistfulness.

At the point when the advancement was reported, it was Olivia's name that reverberated through the lobbies of force. However, her triumph tasted harsh, for it came at the expense of double-crossing her most established companion. Emma, broke by the double-crossing, withdrew into isolation, nursing wounds that ran further than any expert difficulty.

As Olivia lounged in the shine of achievement, the void worried her spirit. The features of force couldn't make up for the shortfall left by the shortfall of genuine fellowship. As she continued looking for progress, she had forfeited the very thing that made her human.

In any case, achievement, similar to the seasons, is transient. As Olivia climbed to ever more prominent levels, she thought of herself as progressively disengaged. The companionships she had disregarded shriveled, letting her be at the highest point of her desires.

In the mean time, Emma, wounded however not broken, found comfort in the straightforward delights of life. Encircled by companions who esteemed her for what her identity was, not what she could offer, she rediscovered the significance of genuine bliss.

In the end, it wasn't the fancy world of big businesses that made Emma happy. It was the simple joys of friendship and laughter. Olivia realized this as she looked at her old friend, and a pang of understanding hit her. She had been so focused on chasing her dream that she almost lost something even more valuable: their friendship.

For progress, when sought after to the detriment of dedication, is nevertheless an empty triumph. What's more, in the tangled snare of life, the obligations of fellowship persevere, long after the features of progress have blurred into lack of clarity.

The moral of the story is this: Success achieved at the cost of friendship is a hollow victory.

Olivia and Emma's story shows that chasing dreams is important, but it shouldn't come at the expense of the people who matter most. While Olivia reached her professional goals, she sacrificed her bond with Emma, leaving her feeling empty despite her success. True happiness comes from a balance between ambition and the love and support of close friends. Even the highest skyscraper looks lonely without a foundation to hold it up.
