Her footprints disappeared as she descended the step
Tears turned into crystals bursting in soft pirouettes
The wind, like a thief, swiftly stealing her breath
Rosebushes buried under the snow, a seasonal time of death
She bundled up under a blanket, and straight into a dream
She found herself at a crossroad, by a fast-running stream
Nothing she saw was exactly as it seemed
Her breath in the air formed a cloud made of steam
The haze of the snow, round the sun, made a ring
As the tiny flakes fell, she heard the whippoorwills sing
She wanted to join in, but she had nothing to bring
She started singing along and the chirping got soft
She tried to sing alone, but the melody was lost
Alone in the forest with nothing but a song
The breeze whistled back and starting singing along
The girl and the breeze and the birds, how they sang
Through the blowing of snow, the church bells, sweetly rang
It was all just so lovely; she didn't notice the cold
Or the depths of the snow, that's where the peril unfolds
Buried up to her neck in a blanket of snow
She was unmistakably frozen from her head to her toes
How would she ever survive she couldn't even suppose
When out of nowhere a dark shadow consumed her
What happened next was all just a blur
She awakened to find a puddle there on her floor
Her heroic snowman, ain't a snowman no more.
