The Pendulum Quests

Barney and the Enchanted pendulum

Up up above so very high

Is where the angels gather to watch us through the wispy skies

Always there for us helping and guiding

They are always watching over us although they may be hiding

An angel is busy watching over a young boy called Barney

He longs for a sibling and wishes for a brother whole heartedly

He is an only child and feeling lonely

Barneys’ parents are unable to have another child – they have Barney only

They live in the country on a farm in the middle of nowhere

Barney feels having no one to play with is so unfair

Whilst Barney is busy feeding the hungry piglets

The Pendulum appears! Barney wonders if it will bring him triplets!!

Sparkling and glowing with flashing lights

The enchanted pendulum is lit and shining so bright

Barney’s heart is racing with all the excitement

He closes his eyes and wishes for a brother – that’s his requirement

The secret trail is shining and in perfect alignment

The pathway is lit revealing itself with multicolour glows

Its winter and freezing so Barny fetches his scarf,

gloves, and coat to keep warm in the snow

Off he heads wrapped up warm looking up high at the biggest hill

he will have to climb

That’ll be no trouble for Barney as he is young, full of energy and in his prime

Stopping at the top of the hill to admire the breath-taking views

Barney has the best idea, if only he had a sledge to slide down to use

He manages to find a flat plank of bark for his snow sledge muse

He looks at the deep long way down

And the iced over lake, he fears he may drown!

He takes a deep breath, leans forward and off he goes

Falling fast, soring and speeding down through the blistering snows

What thrilling fun he is having whilst catching a snowflake

Barney gasps feeling nervous as he is approaching the icy lake

Luckily, he is traveling at such fast speeds he made it through safely to the other side

He stands catching his breath at the thought he could have nearly died!

He stops confused as the glowing pathway he can no longer see

“Why have you lead me here,” said he

Just then he hears a strange voice “who goes there and who may you be?”

Barney looks all around but there is nobody there

Instead, he looks down, a tiny elf stood before him so rare

“Oh, well hello there, my name is Barney, and I am on a quest to get a brother”

“Well, my name is Clive, and I am very busy trying to shelter my family

from this blizzardly storm – including my mother”

Barney wonders what he could do to help and offers his assistance

Clive is overjoyed and puts up no resistance!

Barney generously offers his coat to use as a protective shelter

Along with his scarf and jumper he is such a good helper

Suddenly lots of demons appear!!

They sense the enchanted pendulum is near

Barney finds himself swamped and in a struggling fight

Clive warns the demons away, using his mystical super strength and mite

He also uses a secret whistle to call upon the force of his fellow elf’s community

They each fight the demons away easily all standing in unity

Safe and sound the elf’s make there way through to their new home

They’re all so tiny there is plenty of room to wonder and roam

It is a unanimous vote! With all the elves in agreement

They will lead Barney to the baby Storks

for his demonstration of good treatment

Barney has proved himself to be loving and caring

And more importantly he has been giving and sharing

Clive hops on Barney’s shoulder and blows a finger whistle

They both disappear and are transported to a waterfall under a drizzle

A gorgeous Lagoon is the home of the baby Storks

Barney is shocked at the fact they can talk!

“How did you find us…? Only the elves know of our location”

Clive replies “for goodness’ sake!! I am right here for your information”

As barney has the confirmation form Clive the Storks are pleased

The fetch a baby brother they just retrieved

The Stork offers them all a ride

He is ecstatic and now filled with pride

Flying through the magical rainbow to Barney’s farm

Through the other side appears his family home barn

His parents look up stunned and can’t believe their eyes

The Stork has brought them a baby boy, what a happy surprise

The family are all complete, and hug each other tightly

He notices the pendulum start flashes brightly

Its time to take its leave and help the next child in need

Barney is over the moon the angel heard his pleads

The family celebrating with such joyful laughter

They all lived, happily ever after.
