The Lynx and The Puma

A reconstructed myth based on something I wrote at school years ago.

There was a big race between the cats to see which one will rule the jungle. What happens next is amazing. Everybody knows that the lion went on to win. It is well documented that the other cats put in a good fight. Though little is known about the Puma and the Lynx. The final four were the Tiger, the Lion, the Puma and the Lynx. After the race, the Tiger went on to live his normal life up north. The Lion made his palace up in the mountains.

Rumours speculated around the jungle that the Puma ate the Lynx up. They we’re all only feline after all. The Puma was never seen again, and it was assumed that she was poached for shoes. All the rumours were debunked once a small cub was discovered by the river. She had the eyes and shape of the Lynx, but the physique and shadow of the Puma.

The Lion called her the Punx. Tensions shook the forest when human poachers marched in with their guns. Once again the ownership of the forest came under attack. The Lion preserved his crown, whilst the Tiger saw this as a chance to upsurge leadership beyond his pack.

What could have been a bloody war between multiple species had come to an unusual end. The Puma and the Lynx had returned to the jungle side by side. Poachers aimed their guns at them, but they could not shoot. Their furs sparkled in a gold aura and their eyes were green.

Every bullet fire disintegrated, and the poachers escaped. At that moment, anyone who tried to attack got bounced back. The Puma and Lynx that lost the race years ago had returned to scare the poachers. But they also had a message for everyone in the first.

The Jungle belonged to nobody and everybody. Only Mother Nature, a force fiercer than all their claws combined could possess such a possible rule. Before they could answer questions, the Puma and the Lynx leaned on each other and returned to the sky.

Punx went in to live a peaceful and happy life in the Jungle.
