The Missing Ingredient

Another rave review.

Just when recording superstar Luther Pendergrass thought that he had reached the pinnacle of success in the music industry, another door swung open for him. This was the opportunity of a lifetime, and passing it up wasn't going to be an option for "LP". He was given a very large sum of money from the guy who gave him his first break in the music industry, and continued to mentor and guide him along on his musical journey.

Gerald Sweat was and is a giant in the music industry. The man had the power to make or break a music career with just a simple word. He was talented beyond measure, and had knack for picking out great artists. It was safe to say that LP owed this man everything for the success that he had led him into.
He was given the money with one stipulation in the contract...
He had to start his own record label and put out a hit before the years end; or else he would have to return all the money back to Gerald with interest. LP was riding on the wave of success from his previous albums, so he was fairly confident in his ability to get this done. He knew he could do it.

LP got right to work in the studio, and in a relatively short period of time; "two weeks to be exact", he had a whole 15 track album recorded. With all of his past successes, it was pretty easy to get the radio stations to play his songs on the air.

The album was a mega hit. It was his biggest and best album he had done to date in his career. He broke all of his previous records with no signs of slowing down its meteoric rise to the top. Interviews, appearances, and shows were happening for him at a dizzying pace, and the cash came in tsunami sized waves. He had done it. He was now the owner and CEO of his own label.

With all of the euphoria LP was feeling, it took him about three days after the album reached #1 on The Billboards to realize that his "new label" didn't have a name; or a logo to go with the name whenever he picked one out. LP was always an artist and performer, and that's the perspective that he usually thought from. Now he had to switch gears from being an employee to being a boss.

He gathered together a few friends from inside of the industry and outside of it. He wanted to have a brainstorming session with a group of people he knew and respected to try to come up with the perfect name for the new record label. It had to be a name that captured the essence of what they stood for and hoped to accomplish. The name had to be a representation of luxury and the finer things in life.

After bouncing around a few potential names that were suggested, they all decided to go with the name "Frozen Assets Record Company". The name was catchy and when people refer to something icy or frozen, they think about diamonds or flashy jewelry. The name was perfect; now all they had to do was come up with a concept for the logo they had chosen to represent that name.

It took about a month before LP decided on a concept of a logo for Frozen Assets Records. He kept having dreams about money fluttering in suspended animation. He didn't know why this dream kept coming to him, but knew that it had to have some kind of relevance in his life. While sitting at home watching Animal Planet, LP saw something on the television that made him exclaim loudly and spring to his feet. A grizzly bear was crossing over a frozen pond to get to the remains of a caribou that fell through the ice. The narrator said that the caribou was a female. A doe stuck in the icy pond. Doe in ice. Dough in ice.

The metaphoric phrase hit LPs mind like a thunderbolt. It was the perfect concept for the perfect logo. Money (Dough) suspended in a crystal clear frozen pond.

On the day that all of the contractual obligations were met between Gerald and LP, a messenger showed up at the office with a poster sized package rolled up under his arm. LP paid the messenger, and sent him on his way. He closed the door and lowered the shades. He wanted to be all alone when he laid eyes on the symbol that was gonna be the face of his label.

It was perfect...
