The Legend of the Mystical Frozen Lake

In a small town there was a young man named Marcus that never thought of himself as someone that could make a difference. He was content on accepting this fate. He thought of himself as nothing more than a peasant that would never amount to anything. One day he was out gathering firewood when he heard someone yelling for help. He dropped his firewood and started running towards the screams for help. He came out to the clearing where he saw woman at the edge of the frozen lake and then he saw a small boy struggling to get out of a hole in the ice. Marcus told the lady he'd try and find some help but the woman pleaded with him to rescue her child. Marcus hesitated thinking he wasn't the hero type but then started walking slowly to the child and pulled him out and started to return him to his mother. He was almost there when he heard the ice crackling beneath him so he started to run but it was too late he crashed through but before he went under he managed to push the child towards his mother. As Marcus sunk below the ice he started to think "Is this really how I am going to die?" But before he started to close his eyes to accept this fate a portal opened up and transported him to a parallel world. This world had a prophesy of a hero that would emerge from the mystical frozen lake and defeat the dark evil that would be coming in a years time. Marcus got out of the lake and was bewildered by his surroundings unfamiliar with what he saw. He started to wonder through the forest when he came upon a campsite that was cooking some kind of meat. He called out to see if anyone was there but when he heard no response he decided to help himself. After he was done eating he decided to take a nap. When he awoke he saw a young woman staring at him. He asked her name and she said Elysia. He told her his name was Marcus and she said she was waiting for him. In a vision she was told to go to this area an set up camp for the man that would come through the mystical frozen lake so that is what she did. Marcus was confused. He told her he didn't understand. She assured him she'd show him the ancient text that foretold of the prophesy. The text was back in her kingdom and it was about a couple day's journey away. After they packed up her belongings they began their journey. Along the way the ran into a few wild beasts but Elysia being trained in the arts of the sword was able to defeat hem with ease. Marcus asked Elysia if she could train him saying he wanted to pull his weight so she obliged. By the time they reached her kingdom Marcus had gained more confidence in his sword fighting abilities. Elysia brought him before the king saying he was the man in the prophesy that would rid the world of the evil that was to befall them in a years time. The king brought forth the ancient text that told of the prophesy. Marcus read it and finally realized his destiny. In the text it showed him a map where he would have to go to and train for the next 10 months but before going the king brought out the armor and sword that was saved for the prophesied hero. Marcus took the armor and sword and said his goodbyes and made his way to the training grounds. After about a 2 days walk he arrived at a massive fortress that was guarded by a glowing barrier. As he walked towards it a voice spoke out: Who dares approach the prophesied warriors' training fortress? Marcus brings out the ancient text and recites the phrase: I am the prophesied warrior Marcus that was transported here from the mystical frozen lake of a parallel world. Then the voice told him to insert the sword in the middle of the barrier. So Marcus did and the barrier disappeared and the fortress opened. When he walked inside noticed a post that said there was a total of 10 levels and he'd spend a month in each one honing his skills. As the months went on Marcus became more and more skilled in the ways of the sword. By month 10 not only had he become an exceptional warrior of the sword but his confidence and self worth had also grew. On his way back to the kingdom he came across some bandits that had a woman held captive. Marcus immediately drew his sword and told him to release her or he'd be forced to make them. They refused so he defeated them with ease and bound them to a tree. He the broke out the woman and on the way back to the kingdom she revealed herself to be the princess and told him he'd be rewarded handsomely for his heroics. When they arrived back at the kingdom they went straight to the king's throne room where Elysia and King Articus were and Princess Cressia walked in and told her father of Marcus' heroics and how he's completed the training fortress. Elysia stepped forward and wanted to confirm that fact and challenged Marcus to a duel. Marcus accepted and the King's guard stepped back to make space. Both Elysia and Marcus drew their swords and bowed to each other before facing off. Halfway through Elysia started to struggle and knowing she wasn't an enemy Marcus ended the duel saying the real battle was yet to come. The King knew his time was near so he decided to hold a feast where he'd give an announcement for Marcus to marry his daughter to ensure the safety of the kingdom. After his thought the king announced they'd be having a feast for Marcus and Princess Cressia smiled knowing what that meant. Later on that evening during the feast the King got up and made his announcement that Marcus and the princess were to be wed the following morning. After the feast the princess' handmaidens had prepared a room for Marcus and the princess to sleep in. That night as Marcus and the princess slept a thousand miles away the clan that the bandits were from were speaking incantations to bring forth the evil warlord from the underworld. The final step was for them to drain themselves of all their blood into the crest of the evil warlord and he'd be brought forth soon after. Elysia had a vision of his awakening and told the King the next morning. The King knowing he'd meet his end at the hands of the dark warlord gathered his personal guard and Elysia to try and weaken him. The wedding took place and after it had ended the king and his personal guards made their way to face off against the evil warlord. The warlord saw them coming and was insulted that the prophesied hero was not among them so he unleashed his full might against them but decided to leave Elysia to go back with a message for Marcus. Elysia returned to the kingdom covered with blood and told Marcus and the princess what had happened and he princess burst into tears and Marcus assured her that he'd make he evil warlord pay and return to her. Elysia told Marcus where the warlord was an Marcus went in a hurry. When Marcus appeared in front of the warlord the warlord said in an ethereal voice: You shall die where you stand. And Marcus replied with a: YOU'LL PAY FOR KILLING THE KING. And with that he drew his sword and charged towards the warlord which evaded him and sent him flying with his dark magic. Marcus screamed in pain but then the magic of the armor healed him and he heard a voice telling him to focus on the center of the blade and when he did it started glowing with a bluish color and he swung it at the warlord and it cut the warlord deep with purple blood gushing out. The warlord cried out and tried to use his dark magic again but Marcus was ready and jumped into the air and sent another focused slash at the warlord with more force this time completely severing the warlord's arms. Marcus then did the same slash on the warlord's legs. The warlord knew he was about to die so he started to recite an incantation to completely heal his severed limbs. Marcus caught on though and said, 'Over my dead body' and spun towards him at full force and cut off his head thus ending the warlord's reign before it ever began. Marcus picked up the evil warlord's head and took it back to the kingdom to show proof the evil warlord was truly gone. He later returned with some of the guards to retrieve the king's body so they could give him a proper burial and declare the princess and himself as the new king and queen of Avalor and Elysia as the head of their new personal guard forever honoring the old personal guard and King Articus.
