The Legacy of Patches and Wonderwood
bedtime story, story for kids

She was a curious little girl, brave and daring, who loved to venture into the wondrous woods of Wonderwood, where fluffy bunnies danced under starry skies and air perfumed with the most exquisite flowers. One sunny day, chasing after a butterfly, Patches found herself in Miss Bellbottom's yard, in a heap of flowers, where an old, dusty notepad was hidden. As she picked it up, the journal cracked open, releasing Miss Bellbottom's handwriting onto its pages.

She is being chased in this lovely garden with coloured flowers, perhaps having a fluttering butterfly or two around her, Patches, a young, inquisitive girl with indistinct physical attributes, indistinct apparel, and an old, dusty notepad, is being chased.

Patches excitedly called out, "Miss Bellbottom, Miss Bellbottom!" with great big eyes. "Look what I found!" Miss Bellbottom's little daughter Peaches was preoccupied with making a great picture of a butterfly. "Ooh, what's that?" she said, turning around, and her blue eyes lightened up with excitement. Miss Bellbottom had a warm smile all over her face the more Patches proudly showed them the notebook.

Little girl with blonde hair and blue eyes with child paint splatters on her, holding up her artwork: a partially painted butterfly on canvas; nearby, a paintbrush and colourful palette.
Patches passed the journal to Miss Bellbottom, who opened the book and started flipping its yellowed pages. The miss's eyes went wide, and a look of utter surprise crossed her face as she read. "This is the journal I kept when I was a little girl, just like you two," she said dreamily, yet fervently. "It contains secrets about Wonderwood-secrets that I had almost forgotten."

Inside, sat an old, nice female teacher, long brown hair, with a lovely grin, spectacles perched on the tip of her nose and an antique, yellowed notebook in her hand.
Among high trees with gorgeous blossoms everywhere, Miss Bellbottom took the girls to a comfortable location in the garden. She went on, "Long ago, I found a magic spring deep inside the forest," almost inaudibly. "This spring was able to make flowers bloom and animals thrive, but it was hidden behind a secret door that only opens once a year-on the night of the full moon." Peaches hunched over further to hear and Patches' eyes widened in anticipation.
In a setting beautiful with great tall trees and bright flowers, sits an elderly woman with long curling black hair and a warm smile-Miss Bellbottom.
Miss Bellbottom had told them that they were going to make this fantastic journey in search of the secret entrance, seeking the magic of the spring when the sun began to set over Wonderwood, casting it in a warm orange glow. Patches clapped her hands in excitement, while Peaches hugged her mother and exclaimed, "I'm so happy! Mommy, we can do it!" Miss Bellbottom beamed with pride because she knew the girls would love exploring the fantastic forest under her guidance.

The same woods, with the bright orange-colored sunset, had an air of magic: a little girl with brown, curly hair and great brown eyes, clad in a flowy sundress underneath a shiny, bright magical top, hugging a very happy young mother wearing a sundress of bright yellow and a headband of flowers.
By the time the night drew to a close and the full moon shone resplendent in the sky, Miss Bellbottom and the girls set off on their expedition with much eagerness to understand the wonders of Wonderwood. The hearts of the girls were filled with wonder and magic while wandering between the trees muttering secrets to one another and flowers of sweeter smell. Till at last they came upon an entrance, and true enough it was concealed; but, with one loud groan, the gate slowly swung open, revealing to them a wonderful world beyond.
