When one generally thinks about the last kiss, a feeling of despair washes over the body. For a last kiss for a loving couple means the end of the relationship. For a last kiss for a married couple means death. But a last kiss for soulmates means your last kiss with a new person.

The last kiss of a couple could be out of hunger, pain, or sadness. An angry couple screeching at each other from opposite sides of the main room of their apartment, their relationship slowly dying like a rose in the winter. Their last kiss was full of pain and then it was over. So suddenly, almost as quickly as a little mistake in a car means the loss of life. Their relationship was over with one harsh toss of the heart into the cold darkness of the night. The night hid all of their misfortunes in its beauty. The boyfriend was drinking. And the girlfriend was cheating. And their friends just watched as their relationship burned in the flames of the devil.

The last kiss of a married couple is full of tears. One half lays on their deathbed, probably not even responding to this last sullen kiss. They're on life support; needing a machine to breathe. The married couple was young, not even past the age of 25 yet. It's the husband laying on his deathbed as his husband weeps for him. He thought his depression was finally getting better, but maybe if he were more attentive and observant, he would have realized that all of his smiles were false. He must have not been getting better if his hand is gradually growing colder on the disgusting white bed, in the ridiculous bleach-infested hallways of the ICU.

The only truly happy last kiss occurs between soulmates. Because this last kiss is one of many kisses yet to come. This last kiss is the last first kiss of the couple. Leaning in slowly, cautiously, worried that one will mess up. That their teeth will clash or that the other will be so disappointed that they leave. But as they lean back, with their eyes closed, cheeks flushed, they slowly open their eyes. Giddy with excitement and happiness as they lean in again for another short sweet seal of fate.
