THE JOURNEY OF A DECADE: IN A YEAR

CHAPTER 1

THE MILESTONE IN THE DECADE

There was a boy named Maverick; he was born in the United States and in a small village in Massachusetts. In his family were seven children, and he was third in the family, and he loved his siblings and his family at large. But there is one thing he will become in life, which is to become a certified and approved engineer by the Council of Engineering in society and the country at large.

He has an uncle named John Ethany. He knows Ethany to be a busy person, but he does not know what he really does. Maverick was in high school, in the science department, and was an average student. H has always aspired to be an engineer since the day he read about a novel titled “How disfigured do you think society will be without an engineer?". In that novel, he saw the benefits of engineering in society, and that fueled his zeal to become an engineer.

After the Maverick school exam, it was their vacation, and his parents thought of where and who to take them to for the few weeks of vacation. So they decided to take them to their uncle’s home for the main event, while Maverick heard that he was full of joy because it has been a while since he saw his uncle.

Some days passed, while they were busy enjoying themselves at their uncle’s side. He walked up to greet his uncle in the morning, and he saw his uncle's ID card. He saw that his uncle was a certified engineer, and he was amazed. He grabbed the ID card and gazed at it for a few minutes. His uncle was curious and said, Maverick What’s up? Maverick said, Uncle, I need to have a private time to discuss with you, and he said, Okay, Maverick, I am preparing to be at a site now. Can we make it this evening?

He said there was no problem.

Every one of the children was busy playing outside, while Maverick went inside to prepare his book for the night session discussion with his uncle.

The awaited time came, and his uncle finally came around. He waited till his uncle finished eating and was planning to have a night's rest. Maverick waved at him and said, Uncle, can I see you for a while? His uncle said, No, we will see tomorrow. But Maverick begged and insisted.

After some minutes, his uncle saw his words and decided to have a chat with him.

Maverick told his uncle how he loved to become an engineer and what inspired him to become an engineer. So he asked him to list some key reasons why he would want to become an engineer.

He said

1. To earn: his uncle replied, you have to learn before you earn

2. Because it is lucrative: his uncle said lucrativity is vital, but that something that is not lucrative doesn’t mean you should not be productive in it. So choose productivity over lucrativity.

3. To transform lives: His uncle said that transforming lives is the most important thing to consider when trying to venture into any field.

So now let’s talk about transformation

His uncle said you can’t transform lives when you are not first made. "Boy, you have to follow the making process.”

Study the field of engineering you love, and after graduation:

AS YOU KNOW ENGINEERS ARE KNOWN FOR TRANSFORMATION YOU HAVE TO BE CREATIVE AND SKILLFUL.

Thanks so much, Uncle Maverick said

But, uncle, there is no need for great power to withstand forces. His uncle said, Oh, Maverick, that will be a discussion for later. But note that in the journey of creating transformation in generations and lives, there will be ups and downs, challenges and attacks, but you have to stay focused.
