The hero, who has strayed from the right path
For the Epic Beginnings Challenge

God wanted to create a hero. A powerful creature, that's not only able to surpass the others with its physique, but it also prevails in mind, something, that's not only invincible on the outside, but also strong on the inside.

God was generous. He wanted to give the hero everything. He granted him with intellect, knowledge and empathy, and gifted him with free will to use these virtues whenever he felt like they were needed.
He blessed the hero with courage, because he wanted him not to be afraid, but overcome the fears he had.
At first everything seemed to be working. The hero helped others and did great things using the features that were given to him. He lived as God taught him, and God was proud of his creation.

But soon things turned to the opposite. The hero was aware of his power and realized that if he had looked for opponents and challenged them to compete against him, it would've been so much more fun, than always doing the right thing.
He did so, and like a monster he left cities burn and people die without even noticing it.

God saw it all, and couldn't understand what went wrong. He tried to find the mistake and correct it, he never gave up hope, but the hero turned away from his own creator, and continued his depraved lifestyle. He no longer listened to God, only his own thoughts and beliefs mattered to him.
God wanted to create a hero. But the hero became a villain...

This essentially makes me think about humanity as a whole. God created people in His image and after the whole Adam and Eve thing, they were able to judge wrong from right. I love how you incorporated religion into your villain's origin story, especially since it just makes me think that we are merely choices away from doing the same bad things! Interesting how the mind works! Great story :)
It almost feels like an explanation for how we all fall as humans, even though we lack the superhuman powers. We turn away from what is right far too often:/
“Either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain.”
I loved your story about how even do good heros can let their fake go to their head and havoc follows them wherever they roam
I agree, only few would use the power given by God for doing good things forever.
I guess that's what happened to most humans, given the ever increasing crime rate. It's so sad. Loved your take on the challenge!
Another hero succumbs to the darkness. Great challenge entry, Anna!
Excellent piece! And yet look how many jump over to the losing side 😵💫
Stray too far off the path and this is what can happen. Nice entry, Anna!
