The HART Code

The Gull:

While The HART Code's existence suggests, The GULL Therapy Program has side effects, or The Genomic Universally Limitless Lymphocyte Therapy Program, colloquially known as the GULL, society should embrace The GULL because it dramatically increases human immune function. It also increases stamina with endurance; continuing studies reveal it has no side effects, based on science. This was the going propaganda repeated across all transmission types for several years before The GULL voraciously reduced the world's population to nothing more than ultra-obedient, exceptional laborers, sterile men in most cases, and without that innate human drive and will. The slogan in those days was “a good day's work, a good day's reward," which essentially meant if you do not work as required by your autonomous zone, you do not get food, living quarters, and those that shun it are cut out from the system. To add to the incentive, homelessness was a federal charge across the globe with a life term that resulted in one of the suboceanic prisons where the life expectancy averaged three years.

Where we are:

It is the year 2052; sea levels have risen an average of 20 feet, petroleum is strictly regulated to essential products, the human population is on the decline, and every consumer has a point system where they can earn the luxury of a living unit to varying degrees ranging from little more than a tent to a studio apartment, a spot on the mass transit system to a single commuter transport and dining out at an approved eatery instead of ingesting typical nutrispheres rationed at the start of the workday. The world has 5 autonomous zones or mega countries, each a relic of the superpowers of the 20th century simply named Regions One through Five. The Regions with far more power than previous world superpowers had almost zero accountability, ironclad rule with equal capacity to carry out the global ruling bodies One World Legion or OWL dictates. OWL had total legislative, judicial, and executive authority, and global military strength with regional powers local advantage. The only significant difference between the Regions was the weather as only one language had been ruled legal globally, the only legal conception of religion being science resulting in planetary travel to almost nil aside from what is deemed essential by OWL.

How it began:

The previous pandemics of 2019 and its variants years later resulted in public outcry to end the mass deaths, sickness, solitude, suicide, and lockdowns. This public hypervigilance regarding global human health resulted in the world’s most powerful governments conjoining to rid disease once and for all.

Enter VERTEX, or Vertical Engineering Resilient Technology Experimentation and eXecution. This shady multi-national black op agency had been working on various dark projects since the mid-1940s during its inception. One of those original and ongoing projects involved the human genome geared toward genetic manipulation. Specifically, enhanced human capabilities while being obedient. After decades of research and covert testing on soldiers, POWs, and animals VERTEX had created something unparalleled.

VERTEX:

In the late 2020’s, VERTEX introduced a multifaceted vector that offered wide spectrum defense and convenience with their deployment of a genetically engineered tea leaf. The black tea was essentially the common Camellia sinensis plant, but with 2 distinct differences than what had been common. It contained artificially produced quantum genetic algorithms derived from reptiles, mainly alligators among other species including plants. The so-called “genetic cure” dubbed the GULL, when introduced to the human physiology made every known pathogen almost an archaic concept. It was super immunity. However, it also contained a sinister quantum genetic algorithm VERTEX claimed was canonical or universal code, which was anything but innocuous. This discrete code was activated by EMF waves, specifically cell phone use. Regular tea drinking resulted in accumulative effects within the brain via crossing the blood-brain barrier. This was generally accepted through the rigors of testing because the studies did not allow cell phone use – EMF was the trigger to activating the secondary code.

The process is irreversible aside from the only gene therapy VERTEX produced that can revert the GULL therapy and return the subject to their original homeostasis. It requires a 1-year protocol with low EMF exposure, so cell phone use is prohibited. VERTEX dubbed it The Homogenous Advanced Replicant Therapy or The HART code and kept the only algorithm within a platinum heart-shaped data storage locket on display at a museum.

The Journey:

“Hurry up Folarin!” “What is going on?!” “We gotta go!” Said Sam.

“I understand, just one more minute!” said Folarin.

“Alright, here I am Sam.” “When will reach Region 2?” Sam said.

“When we meet up with Frank and his crew, we’re gonna get the HART Code then they have someone that can smuggle us out of the harbor on one of the few bulk container ships.”

Sam said, “what about us getting caught?”

“Unlikely because we’ll be wearing our covert gear and they don’t use dogs anymore.” Said Folarin.

“OK. If by some miracle we get on the boat, we do not get caught and we make it Dover port, what then?” Said Sam.

“Well, we will meet up with Frank and his team, and with any luck they’ll have secured

the locket from the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.” Said Folarin.

“Isn’t it crazy that the very thing we need to end this mess of spineless

superjerks is staring right at everyone every day?” Sam said.

“Hiding in plain sight.” Said Folarin.

Folarin and Sam managed to get onto an autoship, common ships that carry goods worldwide with skeleton crews and are largely ran by AI connected to the global network. They found a place to hide and with their covert operational gear they wore, made heat detection a non-issue however dogs could still find them. It is a 5-day trip to the port of Dover from Newark.

The Victoria & Albert Museum:

Frank and his crew of eight highly trained ex-special forces brutes that have not seen their necks since they were in grade school were infiltrating the Victoria and Albert Museum where the locket containing the HART Code had been artfully hidden in the open. Their expertise was infiltration and removal back before OWL had overtaken the various governments of the world. This nine-man crew while small, are some of the most effective team members and were a part of the elite class of special forces known for their pedigree throughout the IC community.

Two days after Folarin and Sam stowed away on one of the multiregional autoships about the size of a modern-day aircraft carrier hauling various raw materials nonstop from region to region for OWL, Frank’s crew were planning to make the switch for a fake Hart Code locket for the one containing the much-needed quantum genetic algorithm that Sam can decipher and get into the hands of the only major power left in the world that can challenge OWL known as Endurance.

Endurance:

Endurance encompasses the continent that was formerly Australia. It has a highly capable Navy and is well protected from the OWL forces; however, OWL has been growing in strength and plans to overtake the continent. Once Endurance gets the locket from Sam, they plan to infiltrate the main two crops that OWL uses to counter-act the GULL. The plan will take decades but if done correctly, could mean OWL has a limited life left.

The Arrival:

Sam and Folarin arrived in the port of Dover and to their unrest, were two very eager Dutch Shepherds on patrol. Each one highly alert and ready to find someone to pounce. As Sam and Folarin hid, the autoship docked and the Dutch Shepherds patrolled, they became more anxious, as the dogs got closer. Knowing that Sam was critical to the success of deciphering the HART Code within the heart shaped locket, Folarin decided to run for it gaining the attention of the dogs and their GULL induced handlers. Sam then quickly exited the autoship via a repealing cable he had brought and slipped into the shadows of the port. Folarin was severely wounded by both Dutch Shepherds and was arrested then taken to the dock’s sickbay, he had brought a cyanide capsule in case of his capture, he then swallowed the capsule and died shortly thereafter.

As Sam was heading to the rendezvous point, Frank and his band of brothers had successfully replaced the heart shaped locket on display with a convincing replica. Security surrounding the locket had become lax in those years as much time had passed and its significance forgotten as the few various knowing members became more powerful within the ranks of OWL.

Cuxton:

Sam was able to get to Cuxton via train with his high-priced bogus identification. He reached the Medway River where Endurance had secured a boat for him and Frank’s team. Frank’s team had gotten to Shorne before they encountered OWL forces that were suspicious of their travels. All nine were killed by OWL forces via hand-to-hand combat spare Frank. Frank barely survived the encounter and met Sam at the rendezvous, he gave Sam the locket and perished shortly thereafter.

The Way to The Endurance Stronghold:

The journey long and perilous, Sam knew that the HART Code was the only way humanity could have a chance of regaining everything they had lost, their will. He knew that his only chance was to get his small boat to the Thames Estuary where he could hide as a worker on one of the few bulk carriers in operation to his next rendezvous point. Sam knew he had to muster the will the human populace needed to save them from a never-ending future of obedience and servitude. Sam knew that no matter how hard he wanted to quit, he had to reach New Perth and get the HART Code into the hearts of humanity.
