During the Kangxi period, there was a thief named Wang Kezhang. He was strong, light, and brave, and traveled between Jing and Chu, robbing passers-by.

He had many accomplices, all of whom had no fixed place to go, so the government could not prevent them. Ke Zhang has the courage, their mouth is also very able to speak, he robbed, there are three not to take. One is not to take hard money, two is not to take the lone guest; three is not to take women and children. Therefore, he hijacked the property, mostly injustice.

And, even if the robbery of unjust money, he did not sweep away, each time the owner slightly left some of the property, so that he had a way out. He often went to other people's homes and lingered around all day, but did not harm anyone. People do not know him but can not keep track of his whereabouts. This went on for many years.

One day, a noble official passed by this place, he was carrying a lot of gold and silver jewelry, loaded with the size of a vehicle that can be more than a dozen cars. He was worried that Kezhang would rob him, so he brought more than 100 soldiers to escort him. Who knows, when he slept in one of the post stations and woke up in the morning, all of his more than one hundred guards were unconscious, and more than half of the clothes he carried were lost. The noble officer was terrified and realized that he had met a big bandit. He sent out scouts and horsemen everywhere and gave strict orders to the magistrates to seize the robbers and recover the lost belongings.

After many days of investigation, there was no result. When he was in trouble, someone suddenly came to report that a Taoist temple near the mountain had been burned down for no reason. The Taoist temple had been deserted, a month ago, and the view suddenly sounded of people. The woodcutter peeked inside and saw an old monk sitting on a futon chanting sutras. The fire started, and the villagers ran to the front of the Taoist temple to watch, and whispered, thinking that the old monk must be in danger.

However, after watching for half a day, never saw him come out. Wait until the fire is extinguished, people dial the ash to look, but also can not find his body. Everyone was very surprised and ran to report to the government, thinking that the monk must be related to the robbery. So, the government offered a reward to recruit someone who could capture the monk.

Soon after, the monk suddenly came to the door himself and asked to meet with your official. The monk said to himself, "I am not the one who committed the robbery, but my disciple Wang Kezhang, who is evil and not handsome, so I have come to subdue him. I am a person outside the world, so I do not ask about earthly matters.

Now that Ke-Zhang has repented, my business is done. From now on, I will never come into contact with the human world again. Your things are in a certain valley, you can send someone to get them back!" After saying that, he left. People did not dare to keep him.

After the monk left, your official sent someone to look in a certain valley, only to see a ten thousand feet deep ravines, there seems to be something inside, but no one dared to go down to get it. Your official knew that it was difficult to get something out, so he left happily. However, Wang Kezhang is also silent, and people also gradually forget him.

Decades later, a monk suddenly appeared in a stone cave in Mount Huangyong, with a black face, sitting silently on dead branches and leaves, not talking and not eating. People spread the rumor that the black monk was very strange, so they went to the cave to look at him. When he was asked his name, he did not answer, and when he was offered something to eat, he did not want it. Both eyes drooping, drowsy look. A young man thought he could be bullied, so he broke a straw and stabbed him in the nose. He suddenly opened his eyes and said: "Don't be like this, I am Wang Kezhang, and I am leaving now! After saying this, he closed his eyes again, while his two hands were hanging down, having passed away. An old man next to him sighed and said: ''It's him!'' Then he told the crowd about Wang Kezhang and said, "I was only a teenager when a certain noble official was robbed, and now I am more than eighty years old, and Kezhang is probably more than a hundred years old." So, donations were collected to buy land for him to be buried. However, the next day in the stone cave to see, the body has disappeared, and only the stone wall is written with a large "go". People thought that he had ascended to immortality.
