“Be quiet now Paisley. Mamma will hear us and then we’ll be busted.”
Tommy stepped up, carefully placing one foot, then the other, gingerly on the creaky floorboards, raised his heels up on his tiptoes, and with measured stealth made it to the door.
“You stay out here Paisley, so you don’t give me away.”
Reaching the door in virtual silence, he gave the dog a stern “Stay” and twisted the doorknob.
Tommy rounded the foyer wall and peeked down the hallway. Through the screen door, he could see his mother watering the plants on the porch. She wouldn’t be long so he had to be quick.
On tiptoes, he raced to the kitchen. Grabbing the cookie jar, he took two of the buttery treats. Forgetting his mission was a covert one, he turned and speed through the hallway and out the back door, letting the door slam behind him.
Mother heard the commotion and hurried to the kitchen. Telltale evidence of the heist was there, all over the floor. The perpetrator had made haste in his escape, but left behind muddy prints. Mother found the thief sitting on the swing. She smiled in spite of herself.

Life is friction and friction creates fire. What happens in our lives is the result of combustion. For that reason, we generate passion for things that impact our lives. Writing, art, and music are the fruits of that friction. Enjoy life!
