Dispatcher: “Ma’am, please take a deep breath. Where is the accident?”

Caller: “67! By Mueller State Park! Please! I think he’s dying!”

Dispatcher: “Is he awake?”

Caller: *Pause* “No, his eyes are closed and he’s not moving- Oh my God, he’s not moving!”

Dispatcher: “Ma’am, please take a deep breath. Help is on the way. Are you able to start CPR?”

Dispatcher: “Please. Stay on the line with me.”

Caller: *Shuffling and Indistinguishable noises*

Dispatcher: “Help will be there soon. Did you witness the accident?”

Caller: “Yes! His car is parked near the park entrance. He got out and ran out in front of a car! There was no time for them to stop!”

Dispatcher: “Is the driver of the car who hit him still there?”

Caller: “No, they sped off!”

Dispatcher: “Were you able to see any details of that car?”

Caller: “No! It all happened so fast.” *Heavy Breathing* “I don’t think CPR is working!”

Dispatcher: “Please keep going. An ambulance will be there within the next 10 minutes. It will be coming from the south from Cripple Creek. Keep calm. You are trying your best to save his life.”

Exhibit B; The Genesis Incident

Witness Testimony from Mary Baker. Case: G14596.

This is a transcript of a recorded conversation.

Rodriguez: “This is Detective David Rodriguez with the Teller County Sheriff’s Department. Today is Tuesday, April 10th, 2012 and I am conducting an interview with a witness in the Genesis Incident or case G14596. Ma’am, would you please state your name for the record.”

Baker: “Mary E. Baker.”

Rodriguez: “Thank you for your cooperation. Do you swear that the testimony you are about to provide is true and accurate to the best of your ability to recall it?”

Baker: “Yes, I swear it.”

Rodriguez: “Thank you ma’am. To start, where were you on Saturday night, the 7th?”

Baker: “Me and my husband, Clark, were at home. We live up near Florissant. Close to the fossil beds.”

Rodriguez: “And what were you and your husband doing?”

Baker: “Well, Clark’s in bed by seven every night. I stayed up later than him. I was preparing food for our gathering the next day.”

Rodriguez: “Did anything out of the ordinary happen that night?”

Baker: *Shaken Breath* “Well that’s the thing. Clark and I wanted to retire up in the mountains because it’s quiet up here; so when something loud happens, it really startles you!”

Rodriguez: “Ma’am, what happened that night?”

Baker: *Baker clears her throat* “I was standing in my kitchen when I heard some yelling coming from outside. We have neighbors that live to the south of us, further up the mountain. The yelling sounded like it was coming from that direction.”

Rodriguez: “Do you know your neighbors?”

Baker: “Oh yeah! They’re old folks just like me and Clark! Bernie and Wilma, lovely people..”

Rodriguez: “And what happened next?”

Baker: “Well, the yelling kinda sounded like Bernie. I couldn’t really make out what he was saying. I’m hard of hearing, but I could hear a loud man’s voice. So, I grabbed my flashlight and my bear mace and I went up to make sure everything was okay.”

Rodriguez: “You grabbed your flashlight. So this happened after dark?”

Baker: “Yeah, I would say it was probably around 10:30-11 when I left the house.” *Baker sighs* “So I hopped on our ATV and rode up the West’s house. When I got up there, both Bernie and Wilma were outside in their pajamas.”

Rodriguez: “How familiar are you with the Wests? Is this an odd behavior for them?”

Baker: “Oh definitely. You see, Wilma has MS and has been in a wheelchair as long as I’ve known her. Bernie does all that he can for her and makes sure she gets out of the house. But at 11 o’clock at night? It was strange.” *Baker pauses to take a sip of water* “Bernie had his gun too. 12-gauge, double barrel. I wouldn’t have seen it if I didn’t have my flashlight. Usually, Bernie has a flood light that stays on all the time. It was off when I got up there.”

Rodriguez: *Rodriguez clears his throat.* “And what happened next ma’am?”

Baker: *Baker pauses to cry.* “Well, Bernie… he was yelling about repenting. The rapture was coming and they couldn’t be there to ascend into a new life. So he was going to take matters into his own hands.” *Baker sobs* “He shot Wilma and then turned the other barrel on himself!”

Rodriguez: *Rodriguez sniffles.* “So…” *Pause* “Were the Wests religious at all?”

Baker: “I suppose. They went to Genesis Mountain Church.”

Rodriguez: “Thank you ma’am for sharing your testimony. Is there anything else you’d like to add?”

Baker: *Baker Sobs* “I called the paramedics for them… I did. But there was a rustling in the bushes and I ran! It sounded like… Like someone laughing.”

The recording ends abruptly.

Exhibit C; The Genesis Incident

The following is a copy of a note found on the body of Reverend Thomas G. Harkness of Genesis Mountain Church.

“Sermon for Easter Mass. Sunday, April 8th, 2012. Midnight.”

Good morning,

Today we gather in the darkness to welcome the morning of rebirth. Jesus’s rebirth. His reclamation of life after death. The light will be welcoming and joyful in reverence of the penance the son of God paid so that you may have eternal life. In John 20, Mary Magdalene visited the tomb of Jesus in the dark and found he was not there. She alerted the disciples that he was missing from his resting place. Mary was distraught. She sat and wept for her Lord in his absence. But she received a vision. Jesus appeared to Mary Magdalene and said “Do not hold on to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father. Go instead to my brothers and tell them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father. My God and your God.’John 20:17. In the darkness of night, Jesus had still not ascended. The light of morning will guide him to the kingdom of God, just as it will for you. So tonight, this night, we shall celebrate Jesus so that we may join him in Heaven. Jesus we praise you! Amen! For death is not the end! We take our communion in Jesus’s holy name. We renounce our sin in Jesus’s holy name to ensure our souls will make it to the kingdom of Heaven. John 3:16 “ For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but live an eternal life.” Friends, it is time to embrace God. A miracle of Jesus waits for us outside. We need to go to it and help it ascend so that we may go with it! To be summoned to the Kingdom of God in this Rapture! To Jesus, to God! Communion will be taken outside with the miracle for Genesis 3:19 says “By the sweat of your brow you will eat food until you return to the ground, since from it you were taken; for dust you are and to dust you will return.” Let us pray. Jesus, we pray to you! To give us our salvation! You have sent us a miracle this night. Easter, your rebirth. We will repent of sin and embrace God fully in your miracle! For us, your true believers, we will take your body and take your blood. Jesus, please guide us through this transition to your kingdom with the love and compassion you have gifted us. Show us the light! In Jesus’s name we pray, Amen.

Exhibit D; The Genesis Incident

The following is a transcript of a 911 call placed on Sunday, April 8th, 2012 in Teller County, Colorado.

Time of call: 00:23

Dispatcher: “911, where is your emergency?”

Caller: *Whispering* “There is something happening at the Genesis Mountain Church..”

Dispatcher: “I’m sorry sir, I can’t hear you super well. Could you please-“

Caller: “No! I can’t let them hear me!”

Dispatcher: “Them? Are you in danger?”

Caller: “Yes, we all are!”

Dispatcher: “Sir, what is going on?”

Caller: “The church met for midnight mass tonight. Except they’re all outside. I can see three crosses in the back! It looks like bodies are strung up from them!”

Dispatcher: “Do you live near the church?”

Caller: “Yes! I can see it from my bedroom window! They’re all on their hands and knees praying!”

Dispatcher: “How many people are there? Is anyone hurt?”

Caller: “Maybe a couple dozen. There are definitely three people who are very injured and they are crucified!” *Shaken Breathing* “There’s more people unconscious on the ground.”

Dispatcher: “Okay, I’m sending medics and police to the scene. Can you stay on the line with me and tell me more?”

Caller: “There’s a bonfire in the back, behind the crosses. The preacher, Harkness… He’s reaching into the flames!” *Gasp* “Oh my God!”

Dispatcher: “Sir, please stay calm. What is happening now?”

Caller: *Sobbing* “Please, God make it stop!” *More sobbing* “They’re throwing themselves into the fire!”

Dispatcher: “The people who were praying?”

Caller: *Sobbing suddenly stops.* “There’s something else! It saw me!”

Dispatcher: “What did you see?”

Caller: *Silently crying* “It saw me! It’s eyes! My eyes! They burn!”

Dispatcher: *Heavy breathing* “Sir! What is going on?”

Caller: *Sobbing* “Make it stop! I can’t get it out of my eyes!”

The rest of the call is various screams and indistinguishable noises heard from the inbound side.

Exhibit E; The Genesis Incident

Witness Testimony from Paul Simmons. Case: G14596.

This is a transcript of a recorded conversation.

Rodriguez: “This is detective David Rodriguez with the Teller County Sheriff’s Department. Today is Wednesday, April 11th, 2012 and I am conducting an witness interview for the Genesis Incident or Case G14596. Sir, could you please state your name for the record?”

Simmons: “Paul V. Simmons.”

Rodriguez: “Thank you. Do you swear that the testimony you are about to provide is true and accurate to the best of your ability to recall it?”

Simmons: “Yes.”

Rodriguez: “Thank you. As I understand it, you work for Teller County. Is that true?”

Simmons: “Yes, I work for Teller County EMS, Unit 1890. I’ve been with the county for about 8 years now.”

Rodriguez: “And you responded to a call in the early morning on April 8th, is that true?”

Simmons: “Yes, that’s true. My partner and I were dispatched to an emergency that was unfolding at the Genesis Mountain Church.”

Rodriguez: “What information were you given by dispatch about the situation?”

Simmons: “Dispatch told us there was an unfolding event at the church. Possibly several victims, possible mass casualty. We were told there were several units heading to the scene.”

Rodriguez: “And what happened once you arrived?”

Simmons: “It was quiet…” *Simmons pauses to take a drink of water.* “All the lights were out, no cars in the lot. The front door was wide open though.”

Rodriguez: “Was your unit first on the scene?”

Simmons: “We were. We were the only available unit. I’m sure you’re aware Teller County doesn’t have a lot of emergency personnel, and most of it is voluntary.” *Simmons clears his throat* “The other two units were already deployed. Some hit-and-run incident near Mueller and a murder-suicide up in Florissant.”

Rodriguez: “And did you hear anything about those other incidents?”

Simmons: “Only what was said over the radio. The murder-suicide was called in; but when EMS made it to the scene, both bodies were gone. The same thing happened at Mueller. Both the person that was hit and the caller were missing at the scene. One of the cars was still running and had obvious damage on the hood from an impact.”

Rodriguez: “So as far as you recall, there were no bodies at either scene?”

Simmons: “I wasn’t there, but yeah. The radios were busy and you try to listen when you get the chance.”

Rodriguez: “And what did you do next?”

Simmons: “My partner and I did the best we could to secure the scene. We called out for a response, but we didn’t hear anything.”

Rodriguez: “Did you enter the church at all?”

Simmons: “Eventually, yes. We tried to wait for a police unit to arrive but they were taking too long. We went in through the front.”

Rodriguez: “How would you describe the state of the church?”

Simmons: “Total disarray. The pews had all been stacked and pushed up against the walls. The floor, walls, and ceiling were all spattered with blood. It looked like the blood had been smeared on the floor.”

Rodriguez: “Was there anything particular about the way it was smeared? Any patterns or writing?”

Simmons: “No? It kinda looked like someone had been dragged through it.”

Rodriguez: “And was this your first time inside of Genesis Mountain Church?”

Simmons: “Yes, Sir. I’m not religious. To be honest; even if I was, I wouldn’t have gone there.”

Rodriguez: “Interesting, why do you say that?”

Simmons: “People love to talk. They had nothing good to say about that preacher. Harkness, or whatever his name was.” *Simmons clears his throat.* “A lot of people were not fans of the way he shared the gospel and what messages he preached.”

Rodriguez: “Could you give an example?”

Simmons: “Well from what I heard, he talked an awful lot about how the end was coming. Repent or you’ll go to hell type of stuff. They also said he talked a lot about some savior he found. He wanted to bring his flock to his savior.”

Rodriguez: “So, back to that night then. In the sense of traditional sensibilities, was there anything else unusual about the church when you entered?”

Simmons: “Well there was a deer head over Jesus’s on the massive crucifix.”

Rodriguez: “Okay, thank you. And, what happened next?”

Simmons: “We called out again, but no one responded. So, we went outside to check if anyone was out there. Dispatch said something about people being outside… When we went outside, there were three large crosses standing in front of the tree line. They all had bodies crucified on them. An elderly man, a middle-aged woman, and an elderly woman. There was a fire pit that was still smouldering. The only other thing was Harkness.”

Rodriguez: “In what state did you find Thomas Harkness?”

Simmons: “Deceased. His hands were severely burned, but definitely dead.”

Rodriguez: “There were no other bodies on the scene than the ones you previously described?”

Simmons: “Not as far as I saw.”

Rodriguez: “Did anything else happen?”

Simmons: “Well, yeah actually… Ummm.” *Simmons clears his throat.* “I did one more check. To make sure there was no one alive on the premises that needed medical attention. So I said ‘EMS! Did someone call for help?’ and from the bushes someone said ‘Yes, I need help.’ So I walked closer and said ‘Where are you, are you able to stand?’ and she said ‘I can’t stand, come closer.’ After asking again where she was, she just kept telling me to come closer. Come closer. So I walked up to the treeline and shined my flashlight in and…” *Simmons groans* “I- I remember locking eyes with something. But like, it wasn’t human.”

Rodriguez: “What gave you the impression it wasn’t human?”

Simmons: “Have you ever seen an animal in the dark? Like you can’t see it’s eyes, but you can see light reflecting off of its retinas?”

Rodriguez: “I am familiar.”

Simmons: “It was that. Retinas in the dark… Only they were ten feet in the air…” *Simmons groans again* “Oh God, my head hurts!”

Rodriguez: “We’ll wrap this up quickly then. Do you remember anything else from that night?”

Simmons: “No. I saw that thing and I felt like I woke up in the ambulance. My partner was next to me and we were almost to Colorado Springs.”

The recording ends abruptly.

Exhibit F; The Genesis Incident

The following is an anonymous tip that was left to the Teller County Sheriff’s Department on Sunday, April 8th, 2012. It was called in by a number that was unable to be traced.

This is a transcription.

Time of call: 00:00

Anonymous: *Faintly* “When the command is given, at the sound of the archangel's voice and the call of God’s trumpet, the Lord himself will descend from heaven, and those who have died in Christ will be the first to rise. Then those of us who are still alive and are left will be caught together with them on clouds in the air to meet the Lord. And so, we will be with the Lord forever.” *Hysterical laughter* “My Lord hungers…He waits in timeless hills and watches from elder trees. 1000 eyes, afraid of the light!” *Hysterical laughter* “Leave the light on to keep the Lord at bay!” *More laughter* “EMBRACE HIS LOVE! REJOYCE WITHIN HIS MAW AND BE BORN AGAIN LIKE CHRIST!” *Heavy breathing* “The eyes of the Lord are in every place, beholding the evil and good… My Lord of divine sight. He has feasted and shown our divine purpose… Christ’s blood and body! To be food and feed the hungry!”

The call disconnects.
