Talk Show Radio Host Is An Animal

By Kelli Sheckler-AmsdenPublished 3 years ago Updated 3 years ago 3 min read

DJ: "Hey, hey, good morning Indianaoplis, this is Ada Goodboy, and the good news is, you've reached WWSU, (we won't shut up, and you can't make us.) You're the 15th caller, live and on the air, what's your name caller?"

A slight "paws" -

"Hello caller, caller - are you there? Is this thing on, hoooowl!?"

Caller: "Uh, yeah, hi, this is Anne, am I the right caller?"

DJ: Hiya Anne, yes indeedy you are the 15th caller - and that makes you the winner! All we need from you now, is the answer to the following question, and you will be the proud winner of a month's free massages at Oily Ollies Osteopathy zone!

Are you ready for the question Anne?

Caller: Nervous snorting, yes, I'm ready.

DJ: "From the hilarious 1975 hit movie, The Holy Grail: What is the airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow?”

Caller: Wait, what? You can't be serious. What do you mean, can you be more specific? African or European Swallow? "

DJ: "Hahaha, that's right caller, I can't be serious! "

Cutting to a commercial, the DJ continues laughing like a hyena.

This portion of the show is brought to you by:

DJ: "Of course, you can't see the video, this is radio people!"

He howls and continues to laugh over the video, as the music plays on, he shoots a snarky look, snarling his front teeth at the producer.

DJ: Okay circle city, we are back, talking to Anne; Anne ended the special question with a question, African or European swallow, and actually Anne, we don't care! So, what's your answer gonna be?"

Caller: Just slightly more than the estimated average cruising airspeed of a fully laden sparrow?"

More awkward silence, followed by cackling, hooting, and of course, more produced howling!

DJ: "That is correct caller 15! We hope you're ready for your rub down. Oily Olly is famous for hitting that, make your leg kick zone! Hang on the line, and we'll get your info. Thanks caller."

"Now, back to the music: "Who Let the Dogs Out, performed by Bahamian junkanoo band Baha Men."

As DJ, aka, "Rex" takes Anne's information, he chuckles as she explains how this was a perfect gift for her. She had been awarded prettiest pig at the Indianapolis state fair last August, in the mud wrestling arena.

"Pigs," he muttered under his breath. "Okay Anne, I got it. You should have those tickets by Wednesday, thanks for playing."

As he hangs up the phone, he lets out a sigh, scratches behind his ear and rubs his feet moaning, "My paws are barking boys, I'm out of here."

Grabbing a bowl of kibble on the way to the exit, Rex growls at the sound guy as he reaches in to get his headphones. "Sorry man, I thought you were grabbing my bowl, that's a no-go zone."

Rex, a rescue from the local shelter, made his DJ debut when he was behind bars, rapping for the dogz in the pound.

He was discovered by Snoop Dog himself, who now, just so happens to sponsors WWSU.

Snoop was quoted as saying, "Any dog that can fozizzle behind the irons like ol' Rex, needs to showdizzle in the real world. We all need that ray of sunshizzle, are you picking up what I'm laying down, dog?"

This is just the beginning for Rex, and he is a natural, although he came from a hard place. He was released on good behavior, after spending 18 months in a cage with a sign that read: "aggressive, PLEASE do not pet, keep fingers clear."

You would think he would be bitter, but he thrives making others happy. He says, "When I was locked up, I felt I needed to put on a tough guy act, when actually -nothing gets your tail wagging harder than sniffin out what makes everyone else happy, fame hasn't changed me a bit." He says licking his newly placed gold caps.

When he is off air, he lives a simple life with an elderly woman. Together, they share an apartment near the circle, downtown Indy. He lives a happy life as a good boy and Edith, his roommate (mom) smothers him in kisses and snuggles, in private, of course.
